The schedule for the third and final round of the 2023 Shannons Trophy Series at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park (The Bend) has been confirmed, with more than 25 hours of on-track action to unfold across three jam-packed days this October.
The popular South Australian circuit will play host to the largest and busiest Shannons Trophy Series meeting of the year, with a season-high seven national categories to make the trip to Tailem Bend next month.
A number of participating categories will feature as part of the series for the very first time this year, including Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, Australian Formula Ford Series, and the Australian Prototype Series.
Meanwhile, MARC Cars Australia, Workhorse Radical Cup Australia, Circuit Excel SA and the combined Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars (APC) and Monochrome GT4 Australia will all return after previous appearances.
Those attending will also be able to catch a rare glimpse of the Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship’s (ARC) penultimate round, the PowerPlay Adelaide Hills Rally – which will take place simultaneously to the Shannons Trophy Series event.
The combined APC and GT4 category will see the most track time across the weekend with four, one-hour races scheduled to take place across Saturday and Sunday.
Another category with four races will be Circuit Excel SA, who will see their first two 20-minute affairs on Saturday before undertaking its final two on Sunday.
Both Australian Formula Ford Series and Australian Prototype Series will continue with their traditional format of three, 20–25-minute races across the weekend, while Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, MARC Cars Australia and Workhorse Radical Cup Australia will see similar formats with extended session times throughout.
Racing enthusiasts will also be treated to ARC special stages on Friday night, where they will have a rare opportunity to watch some of Australia’s best rally crews go head-to-head across two special tarmac stages.
Friday will also be the busiest day of on-track action, with a mammoth 20 sessions made up of practice and qualifying starting with Circuit Excel SA practice at 8:05am ACDT and concluding with the ARC special stages at 9pm ACDT.
The racing will then officially get underway at 8:05am ACDT on Saturday morning, and will run all the way through to the conclusion on Sunday’s action at 5:25pm ACDT.
Spectating for the Shannons Trophy Series, and PowerPlay Adelaide Hills Rally, is free of charge. Fans will be able to enjoy most of Sunday’s action live and free via 7plus.
The Sunday broadcast will begin just in time for Race Two of the Australian Prototype Series at 9am ACDT, and will run through to the conclusion of Race Three of MARC Cars Australia at 5pm ACDT.
Fans can also watch the action unfold via Motorsport Australia’s YouTube channel, Blend Line TV and the Shannons Trophy Series Facebook.
The third and final round of Shannons Trophy Series will take place at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park on 13-15 October.
