Adelaide Car Club made significant strides in its mission to promote diversity and inclusion last month, successfully hosting its first Women on Track event at Mallala Motorsport Park.
The event saw more than 20 women experience a breadth of learning and development opportunities across all facets of the club-level motorsport.
This event offered women the opportunity to learn and practice driving techniques on the skidpan and on track, including controlling slides, counter steering and mastering racing lines.
Event organisers were impressed the level of participation for the first instalment of this event, Adelaide Car Club Secretary Nathan Green speaking of the atmosphere among the women.
“We are extremely pleased with the turnout and positive feedback,” said Green.
“This event provided a supportive environment for women to explore their passion for motorsport, and we’re excited to continue fostering this community.
“We saw a mix of members, mainly members and a number invited from the Motorsport Australia event held in June.”
In what Adelaide Car Club hopes will be the first of many similar events, organisers are already looking ahead with plans for the future in collaboration with other clubs already underway.
Participants were thrilled with their experience at the event, highlighting the unique experiences and inclusive environment provided.
“Wow, what a way to spark a new passion!” said Lauren, a participant from the event.
“So great to be taught by instructors with such incredible experiences. I walked away from this experience having learnt so much and wanting to continue to improve.”
Adelaide Car Club aims to connect people with similar interests to each other, welcoming everyone with a strong passion for cars and motorsport.
