FIA World Rally Championship – Finland
Taylor Gill and Daniel Brkic made their anticipated return to Rally Finland over the weekend as part of the crew’s ongoing WRC2 campaign.
The pair needed to build throughout the weekend, after gearbox struggles on Friday. Plans to regather after service were then foiled by wet weather and the team were required to bide their time until Saturday.
Following Saturday’s stages, Gill managed to climb up to 11th in WRC2, with some room for improvement, as the #34 searched for a way inside the top 10 heading into Sunday.
Gill and Brkic were able to find some wriggle room up the standings, climbing into 10th for the event following the final two stages on Sunday.
The pair were 10th fastest across the final two stages, completing SS19’s (Himos-Jämsä 1) 30-kilometre layout in under two and a half minutes, meanwhile it took 2:42.55 to complete Himos-Jämsä 2 (Wolf Power Stage) and lock in the 10th-place finish.
Gill and Brkic have not yet announced their next rally appearance, and will do so in the following weeks. Remaining on the WRC calendar for 2026 are events in Paraguay, Chile, Italy and Saudi Arabia.
GB3 Championship – Silverstone
Australian duo Jack Taylor and Dante Vinci continued their 2026 GB3 Championship campaigns at Silverstone over the weekend, with both drivers gaining valuable experience at one of the world’s most iconic circuits.
Fortec Motorsports’ Taylor qualified 18th and 17th for the opening two races before suffering an unfortunate retirement in Race 1.
The Australian bounced back impressively on Sunday, delivering two clean and consistent drives to finish 14th in both Race 2 and the reverse-grid finale.
Hillspeed’s Vinci enjoyed a promising start to the weekend by qualifying 12th for Race 1 before lining up 15th for the second race session.
The Australian converted those positions into a pair of solid finishes, taking 14th in the opening race and 15th in Race 2, before completing the weekend with 17th in the final race.
With another weekend of valuable data and competitive running under their belts, the pair now turns their attention to Round 6 of the eight-round championship, which takes place at Donington Park on 5–6 September.
IMSA SportsCar Championship – Wisconsin
A small Aussie contingent was visible among the extensive IMSA SportsCar Championship field following an incident-filled Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America.
Among the drivers involved in moments that caused nine full-course yellow flag cautions, was Tom Sargent, who was forced to retire from the race and was taken to the infield medical facility to be treated for injuries suffered from the on-track incident. He has since been cleared albeit the Wright Motorsports team were unable to finish the race.
The highest-placed Aussie to finish the six-hour Enduro was Josh Burdon, who was brought in to compete for JDC-Miller MotorSports in the LMP2 class.
Burdon and company were one of the top performers from the event, finishing inside the top 15 outright and were classified eighth in class.
The result was a major improvement for the team, after finishing 23rd overall in Qualifying, as teammates Gerry Kraut and Sennan Fielding assisted in climbing up the race order over the race’s duration in the Oreca 07.
The third and final Aussie to compete was Scott Andrews, who featured in the #80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 alongside Lin Hodenius and James Roe.
Over 142 laps, Andrews provided a solid drive, helping the machine cross the finish line in 34th outright and sixth among GTD class entrants.
Next up on the IMSA calendar is the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway from 21-23 August.
Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie – Nürburgring-Nordschleife
Newcastle driver Christian Mansell undertook the unique experience of competing in the the traditional KW 6 Hour ADAC Ruhr Cup race, the highlight of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie season.
The only event of the series to be six hours in length, Mansell had his work cut out for him getting an abundance of track time on one of the most difficult circuits on the planet.
Mansell excelled immediately, claiming pole position in the BMW M240i class before undertaking the main race.
Mansell and Team Motopark would end the race in 68th outright and sixth in class in what was mostly a seamless drive after 35 laps around the Nordschleife.
However, Mansell’s only major setback came serving a 30 second stop and go penalty after one of Mansell’s teammates was hit for speeding in the pit lane.
Eurocup-3 – Monza
The first half of the Eurocup-3 season came to a close at Italy’s iconic Monza track as Patrick Heuzenroeder and Gianmarco Pradel searched for valuable momentum heading the upcoming month-long break for the category.
Both competitors found their rhythm early on, as Pradel put together a third-fastest lap in Qualifying 1, and Heuzenroeder a fourth-fastest lap to put both drivers near the front of the starting grid.
In Qualifying 2, Heuzenroeder would settle for ninth and Pradel closely behind in 11th.
Neither Aussie was able to improve on their starting positions in Race 1, but Heuzenroeder was able to come away with a strong haul of points.
The Griffin Core driver was able to secure P5 in the process, meanwhile Pradel’s pace saw him fall back to the middle of the grid in P12.
Pradel completed Race 2, and the weekend, again in the middle portion of the pack in 12th for MP Motorsport after 15 laps, while Heuzenroeder was 10 seconds off the pace finishing in 20th.
Round 5 is set for for Silverstone with the championship headed to the United Kingdom for a Sprint Round after an extended break from 11-13 September.
