Method Motorsport has today announced that it will become the first official entrant of the brand-new standalone GT4 Australia Series run by SRO Motorsports Group with Chaz Mostert part of the team.

The exciting new Australian motorsport team, backed by two-time Bathurst 1000 race winner Mostert, wasted no time in announcing its intentions to run in the new standalone GT4 series after SRO declared its plans to run on the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar in 2024.

The collaboration between Method Motorsport and SRO marks a significant leap forward for the exciting new category and the growth of GT racing in Australia.

Method Motorsport co-owner Gareth Whiteley explained the reasoning behind their entry.

“Our decision to align with the SRO GT4 Series was driven by a shared commitment to integrity and excellence,” Whiteley said.

“This alignment offers a platform for our talented drivers to showcase their skills on a global stage in the near future, but most certainly across Australia, next season.

“The SRO GT4 Series not only values our passion for motorsport but also brings opportunities for Method Motorsport to extend our services to drivers of all experience.

“With a calendar featuring six rounds and a limited number of available seats between the two Artura’s, we expect to have a complete roster as we head into the upcoming season.”

Team Principal Guy McEntyre added to Whiteley’s comments.

“Bringing an international powerhouse like SRO Motorsports Group to Australia is not only an enormous step forward for motorsport in this country but also an opportunity for Method Motorsport which we simply could not pass up,” McEntyre said.

“SRO is the founding body for GT4 internationally and will give our drivers the opportunity to compete in a class of racing which has been amazingly successful across the world with all the hallmarks for close competitive racing on an equal playing field.”

Founder and Global CEO of SRO Motorsports Group Stephanie Ratel welcomed Method Motorsport to the newly formed series and ensured that there will be more entries to be announced soon.

“We are delighted to welcome Method Motorsport with their two brand new McLaren Arturas as the first official entries in the brand new GT4 Australia Series.

“We are very excited to see what this new team and their relationship with McLaren Customer Racing can achieve in GT4. There will be more exciting GT4 entries and news to be announced shortly.”

SRO Motorsports Group GT4 Australia Series will run exclusively on the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar, kicking off at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in April.
