Gill and Brkic confirm Rally Chile WRC2 entry

Taylor Gill and co-driver Dan Brkic have added another round to their 2026 FIA World Rally Championship program, confirming they will contest Rally Chile in addition to next week’s Rally del Paraguay.

The South American double-header extends the Australians’ WRC2 campaign to five rounds, with the pair set to drive a Toksport WRT Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 at both events.

Toksport, which won last year’s WRC2 Teams’ Championship, will field Gill and Brkic in Paraguay from 27-30 August before heading to Chile for the 10-13 September event.

“We believed Finland would be the finish of our WRC year; however, Paraguay was a big bonus. To then be able to add Chile to complete the South American double-header is incredible,” Gill said.

The opportunity has been helped by Gill’s Finnish-based manager, Jukka Hara, who has worked with the Australian since 2023 and has strong connections throughout the European rallying scene.

Through Hara’s contacts, the opportunity to join Toksport across both events was secured, although Gill still needs to bring partial funding to complete the program.

“Nothing is free at this level of the sport, but it’s something we needed to do to get ourselves closer to our goals,” Gill said.

The two events will also give Gill his first competitive experience in Škoda machinery this season, having previously driven Toyota and Citroën Rally2 cars.

“I had a small drive of a Škoda last week in Finland, and it was good to start the learning process. It’s a strong car, and it gave me great feedback right away,” he said.

“We will have some more time in the car before Paraguay, which will be important to help us get more acquainted with the finer details and to understand how the team operates.

“People may think South America is like Australia, but there are similarities that often get thrown around too easily, so I’ll need to keep an open mind for both events,” he said.

“We know that chances to drive can open up at short notice, as it did here, so we need to be ready to move at any moment.”
