Matt Payne reinforced his status as the driver to beat in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship after claiming two race wins from three starts at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440, extending his championship advantage at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway.

The Penrite Racing driver entered the round with momentum and immediately stamped his authority on proceedings, topping both of Friday’s free practice sessions before converting pole position into a commanding victory in Saturday’s opener.

Payne controlled the race from the outset, leading home fellow New Zealander Ryan Wood to secure a Kiwi one-two finish, while Anton De Pasquale completed the podium for DEWALT Racing.

Behind the leader, the action intensified when Payne’s teammate Kai Allen and Brodie Kostecki collided at Turn 1 late in the race, leaving Kostecki stranded in the sand trap and triggering a Safety Car.

The restart produced an entertaining sprint to the finish, with Cam Waters charging back to fourth after a slow pit stop and Chaz Mostert rounding out the top five.

Saturday’s second race delivered a different result as Broc Feeney ended a frustrating 69-day run without victory.

Payne again looked in complete control during the opening stint, but the race turned during the pit cycle when traffic delayed the championship leader.

Feeney capitalised, sweeping past Payne on the pit straight before setting the fastest lap and pulling clear to claim his fifth win of the season.

Kai Allen continued an impressive weekend with third place, while Mostert held off Will Brown and Kostecki in a fierce battle for fourth.

The victory allowed Feeney to trim Payne’s championship lead heading into Sunday’s finale.

The final race of the weekend produced the most dramatic finish of all.

Payne reclaimed the advantage through strategy before a hard-fought battle with Feeney culminated in wheel-to-wheel contact as the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver rejoined the circuit.

The clash damaged Payne’s left rear tyre, leaving him to nurse the wounded Ford across the remaining laps with Feeney applying relentless pressure.

Despite the tyre partially rolling off the rim, Payne held firm to secure his second victory of the weekend, with De Pasquale collecting another podium in third.

Waters finished fourth, while Allen produced one of the drives of the weekend by charging from 23rd on the grid to fifth.

The event attracted a three-day crowd of 40,213 spectators, the largest at Wanneroo Raceway in a decade.

Payne now holds a 118-point championship lead over Feeney ahead of the next round at Queensland Raceway later this month from 21-23 August, where the Repco Sprint Cup will be decided.

Dunlop Super2 Series

The DUNLOP Super2 Series produced two action-packed races at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, with Lochie Dalton extending his championship lead before Reuben Goodall claimed a breakthrough maiden victory. Aaron Love secured the overall round win on his return to the category.

Dalton continued his impressive 2026 form in Saturday’s opener, converting a front-row start into a commanding lights-to-flag victory.

The Blanchard Racing Team driver also set the fastest lap to claim his third win from five races this season, strengthening his position at the top of the standings.

Love finished second after recovering from a slow start, while Ben Gomersall completed the podium ahead of Campbell Logan and Goodall.

Goodall turned the tables in Sunday’s finale, jumping past polesitter Love at Turn 1 before controlling the race from the front.

The Tickford Racing driver was untroubled after a late Safety Car restart, holding teammate Nash Morris at bay to seal his first Super2 race victory.

Love recovered to third, which was enough to secure his maiden Super2 round win and Eggleston Motorsport’s first round victory since Sydney in 2025.

Despite finishing eighth in Race 2, Dalton leaves Perth with a healthy championship advantage as the series heads to its next round at the Repco Bathurst 1000 from 8-11 October.

SuperUtes

Adam Marjoram celebrated a career milestone in front of his home crowd after claiming his first Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series round victory at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, capping off a weekend that featured four different race winners.

Defending champion David Sieders made the perfect start to the round, claiming pole position with a new qualifying lap record before leading every lap of Friday’s opener to secure his first victory of the 2026 season. Marjoram and Adrian Cottrell completed the podium as Sieders reignited his title campaign.

Saturday’s reverse-grid race belonged to rookie Sean Evans, who inherited his maiden SuperUte win after Anthony Jewell received a post-race penalty for a yellow flag infringement. Marjoram produced one of the drives of the weekend to climb from eighth to second, while Jack Westbury claimed a podium finish in third.

Sunday was all Marjoram’s. The Western Australian converted front-row starts into commanding victories in both races, delighting local supporters and sealing his first SuperUte round triumph on home soil. Sieders followed him home in both encounters to finish second overall, while Cottrell’s consistency throughout the weekend earned him the final place on the round podium.

Marjoram’s success extends his championship advantage ahead of Round 4 at the Repco Bathurst 1000, with Sieders climbing to third in the standings after his strongest performance of the season.

Trans Am

The Trico Trans Am Series delivered three enthralling races at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, with Todd Hazelwood and Jarrod Hughes sharing the spoils as Hughes emerged with the overall round victory.

Hazelwood opened the weekend in style, converting a front-row start into his first race win of the season. The reigning champion controlled proceedings from the opening corner to defeat Blake Tracey by 1.5 seconds, while Hughes recovered from pole position to finish third ahead of James Moffat. The race also featured a key flashpoint when Nathan Herne was spun after contact with Lachlan Evennett, dropping the two-time champion outside the top 10.

Hughes responded on Saturday with his maiden Trans Am victory after an enthralling battle with Hazelwood. The pair broke clear of the field before Hughes completed a decisive pass with just two laps remaining, while Moffat claimed another podium in third.

Sunday’s finale was interrupted by multiple Safety Cars following a major first-corner pile-up that eliminated Hazelwood and several others. Starting from pole, Hughes avoided the chaos and controlled each restart to secure his second win of the weekend. Moffat and Evennett completed the podium, while Herne recovered to fourth after a difficult opening two races.

Hughes’ double victory capped a breakthrough weekend and delivered valuable championship momentum heading into the next round at Ipswich later this month.

Radical Cup Australia

Radical Cup Australia took to the stage in Perth, with Mason Harvey, Chris Reindler and Peter Paddon sharing the victories across the weekend.

Harvey opened the round with a commanding Race 1 win, finishing just over a second clear of Bryce Moore, while Isaac McNeill completed the podium. The race ended early after a late incident involving Clint Hancock and Bradley Russell brought proceedings to a close.

Race 2 belonged to Reindler, who capitalised after Harvey failed to make the start, leading McNeill home following an interrupted race that featured an early Safety Car and a premature finish due to separate incidents for George Sinclair and Cohen Jackson.

Paddon then broke through for victory in Sunday’s opening race, edging Moore by just 0.36 seconds in a thrilling finish, with McNeill again claiming third.

Reindler capped off the weekend in dramatic fashion, passing McNeill at Turn 1 on the final lap to secure his second victory of the round. Paddon finished third, while Harvey recovered from the rear of the grid to claim fourth. The series next heads to Sydney Motorsport Park in September.
