From Gold Coast to Portugal for determined Love
Tuesday 22 October, 2019
Jordan Love has a big month ahead of him both in Australian and in Europe.
Jordan Love will head into the final round of the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup with a lot on his mind as he continues to fight for a spot at November’s Porsche Junior Shootout.
Love sits on top of the Series’ standings just two points ahead of Sonic Racing teammate Dale Wood, giving him plenty of confidence ahead of one of the biggest opportunities of his career later in the year.
Love had a slow start to the season before registering five wins on the trot during the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 and Phillip Island rounds.
Love’s season looked on the rocks when he had a crash at Hidden Valley but he bounced back nicely and won the next two rounds.
His most recent form has given him a lot of confidence ahead of the final round with Porsche Carrera Cups around the world permitted to nominate one candidate for the international shootout taking place in Portugal.
Should Love be successful on the Gold Coast and successful in being selected for the European shootout, he would be one step closer in joining elite company in Matt Campbell and Jaxon Evans as Porsche pyramid graduates.
“I’ve been training hard on and off the track in the last few months with my, Porsche and my trainer Josh,” Love said.
“While sealing the championship this weekend is my main goal, I feel honoured to be the Australian nominee for this year’s shootout and it was my major goal since starting in GT3 Cup Challenge two years ago.
“My ultimate goal is to use the Porsche pyramid to become a Porsche factory driver and it will be interesting to see how I fare against the best Carrera Cup drivers from around the world.
“I’m incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity and I’m sure I will gain a lot of experience no matter what the outcome maybe.”
Love’s career has seen him progress from state karting to winning the 2015 Asia Cup and Formula BMW Champion, as well as the 2017 Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge.
His reached a minor career milestone after receiving the Porsche Junior Scholarship before enjoying stints in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship and Bathurst 12 Hour.
Joining the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia in 2018, he finished fourth in his debut season before clinching the Porsche Junior Competition this year as well as being in the box seat for a potential outright title, pending a solid weekend on the Gold Coast.
The Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia holds its season finale as part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship’s Vodafone Gold Coast 600 on 25-27 October.
