Team Australia: Meet Cody Nikola Latkovski
Sunday 27 October, 2019
Cody Nikola Latkovski is one of four drivers representing Australian in the FIA Motorsport Games.
In late September, CAMS revealed Australia’s representatives for the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games to take place in Rome next month. Ahead of the international competition, cams.com.au looks at the four representatives in a three-part profile series.
In the E-sports world, Cody Nikola Latkovski is a driver who isn’t fazed by the international stage and would be considered as one of the country’s finest gamer exports.
Outside of being one of the most successful Australian sim drivers in recent years, Latkovski boasts the record of being the most decorated Asia-Oceania players to compete.
Playing under the username of Nik_Makozi, Latkovski had a busy year in 2018, taking part in the Asia-Oceania Regional Final in Tokyo before placing third in the FIA Gran Turismo Championships World Final in Monaco.
He continued his good form into this year – where he picked up a number of Oceania region titles in the FIA GT Championships 2019, his most notable being the Nations Cup, Manufacturers Series and the GR Supra GT Cup Series.
In November, he will once again get a serious crack at the world title after qualifying for the World Finals, Nations Cup and Manufacturers Series, which will again take place in Monaco later this year.
However before he heads to Monte Carlo, he will be stopping by Rome to represent Australia in the FIA Motorsport Games as a Digital Cup entrant and the young star was thrilled to be named.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be able to participate in the first ever FIA Motorsport Games. History is in the making now and I am honoured to be a part of it,” Latkovski said.
“There’s nothing quite like it when you get the opportunity to represent your country in something as big as this. I will do my best to make Australia proud.
“For me, the FIA Motorsport Games is like the Olympics of motor sport. Being part of Team Australia has always been a dream of mine and I’m happy I could finally make it a reality.
“Australia has been the home of many talented and successful athletes in motor sport, and I hope my efforts in these first ever FIA Motorsport Games will continue to prove that.”
Latkovski is one of 16 drivers part of the Digital Cup
