Formula 1 – Monza

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished fifth at the Italian Grand Prix after an action-packed race at Monza, recovering from a three-place grid penalty to claim a strong points haul.

The Australian started sixth after initially qualifying third, with his penalty for impeding Liam Lawson in qualifying dropping him out of the second row for the race start.

Piastri quickly moved into the podium fight, trading third place with Max Verstappen while also battling Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton and, later, McLaren teammate Lando Norris.

Piastri and Norris went wheel-to-wheel in the closing stages, with Norris passing for fourth on Lap 48 before Piastri reclaimed the position.

The pair continued their fight until Norris moved back ahead on the final lap, with Piastri ultimately crossing the line fifth.

Despite missing out on a podium, Piastri was encouraged by his improved pace after a difficult run of recent rounds, describing the weekend as a “better step in the right direction”.

The result leaves Piastri seventh in the Drivers’ Championship, 151 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli.

Piastri and the Formula 1 grid are off to the Spanish Grand Prix for the inaugural race at the Madring venue from 11-13 September.

Formula 3 – Monza

Australian James Wharton secured a top-10 finish in the Italian Grand Prix feature race, recovering from a challenging Sprint to finish 10th at Monza.

Wharton showed promising pace across the weekend, finishing 17th in Practice before progressing to eighth in Group B qualifying to put himself in a strong position for the weekend’s racing.

The Australian endured a difficult Sprint Race, however, crossing the line 21st after struggling to convert his qualifying pace into a strong result.

Wharton bounced back in the Feature Race, producing a more competitive performance to work his way into the top 10 and secure a valuable result at one of Formula 1’s most historic venues.

Wharton heads to Spain’s capital next for the Spanish Grand Prix at the newly constructed Madring complex from 11-13 September.

GB3 Championship – Donington Park

Australians Jack Taylor and Dante Vinci endured an interesting weekend in the GB3 Championship at Donington Park, with both drivers fighting throughout the three-race meeting.

Driving for Fortec Motorsports, Taylor qualified 13th in both sessions, while Hillspeed’s Vinci qualified 16th for Race 1 and 18th for Race 2. Taylor finished 12th in the opening race, with Vinci crossing the line 15th.

Vinci improved to 13th in Race 2, while Taylor’s race came to an early end after he retired following Lap 8. Vinci then continued his consistent weekend with another 12th-place finish in Race 3.

Taylor was not on the grid for the final race, bringing his weekend to a premature conclusion, while Vinci completed all three races and secured a pair of top-15 finishes.

The GB3 Championship heads to Brands Hatch for Round 7, the penultimate round of the season, from 26–27 September.

British F4 – Croft

George Proudford-Nalder enjoyed a standout weekend at Croft in the British F4 Championship, securing his third victory of the season for Virtuosi Racing.

Proudford-Nalder qualified 11th with a best lap of 1:18.356 before making progress in the opening race to finish 10th.

The Australian then delivered his strongest performance of the weekend in Race 2, charging through the field to take victory and claim his third race win of the 2026 season.

His weekend ended prematurely in Race 3, with Proudford-Nalder bowing out of the race on Lap 11.

Proudford-Nalder heads to Silverstone for the penultimate round of the British F4 Championship from 26–27 September.

Italian F4 – Imola

While the majority of motorsport fans’ attention was directed to Monza, the Italian F4 Championship made its presence felt at Imola.

Among the grid was Australia’s Noah Killion, who qualified 11th in Qualifying Group 2, putting himself in a competitive position heading into the weekend’s races at the iconic Italian circuit.

The races proved more challenging, with Killion finishing 22nd in Race 2 before a further setback in Race 3 saw him classified 30th.

The Australian finished the weekend in 14th on the Drivers’ Standings with 109 points, 26 points outside the top 10.

Killion is now en route to Misano for Round 8 of the Italian F4 Championship from 18–20 September.

Formula Regional European Championship – Imola

Alex Ninovic showed up and down pace throughout his Formula Regional European Championship weekend at Imola, with the Rodin Motorsport driver finishing the final race 14th.

Ninovic made a strong start to the weekend, placing eighth in Free Practice before qualifying 10th in Group A for Race 1.

He then stepped up his performance in Qualifying 2, securing seventh in Group A and putting himself in a competitive position for the weekend’s racing.

His progress was interrupted in Race 1 when he was forced to retire after five laps, before a reverse-grid Race 2 saw him finish 25th.

Ninovic bounced back in the final race, gaining positions to record his best result of the weekend with 14th at the chequered flag.

The result provided a positive finish to a weekend where his qualifying pace showed the potential of the Rodin Motorsport package.

With the final round now approaching, Ninovic will have one more opportunity to turn that pace into a strong result and close out the season on a high.

Ninovic heads to Hockenheim for the final round of the Formula Regional European Championship from 11–13 September.

IndyCar – Monterey

Will Power has finished the 2026 IndyCar season 13th at the Grand Prix of Monterey, bringing his campaign with Andretti to a close in 11th place in the championship standings with 368 points.

Starting 12th on the grid, Power made a strong opening to the season finale, climbing to ninth in the early laps before progressing as high as seventh ahead of his first pit stop on Lap 22.

The Australian continued to fight his way forward after his Lap 44 stop, but a wide moment at the hairpin cost him momentum and dropped him to 13th.

Power remained just outside the top 10 through the following stint before making his final pit stop on Lap 71.

Despite pushing in the closing laps, Power was unable to regain further positions and took the chequered flag in 13th.

Reflecting on the season, Power remained positive about Andretti’s progress, highlighting the team’s improvements and strong finish to the campaign.

“It’s been a very good season,” Power said. “I feel like we were one of the strongest teams at the end there, so I’m certainly looking forward to next year.”

Indy NXT – Monterey

Lochie Hughes has finished his 2026 Indy NXT campaign on the podium, charging to third in Race 2 of the Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The Andretti Global driver endured a difficult opening race, finishing 14th, but produced a strong response on Sunday to secure third behind race winner Tymek Kucharczyk and newly crowned champion Nikita Johnson.

Hughes remained in contention after the restart and applied pressure to Johnson before ultimately securing the final step of the podium.

Jack Beeton also recovered from a challenging opening race, with the HMD Motorsports driver finishing 19th in Race 1 before climbing to 10th in the finale.

Nicolas Stati recorded 17th and 15th-place finishes across the two races for Cusick Morgan Motorsports.

The results saw Hughes finish fifth in the championship with 453 points, while Beeton ended his campaign ninth with 382 points and Stati 17th on 227 points.

Hughes’ podium provided a fitting end to the season after the Australian recorded top-10 finishes in 11 of the championship’s 17 races, while all three Australians finished inside the overall top 20.

Kyojo Cup – Fuji

Joanne Ciconte and Paige Raddatz both recorded strong results at Fuji Speedway as the Kyojo Cup completed its third round of the season.

Ciconte was a strong presence near the front of the field, opening the weekend with eighth in Practice 1 before moving up to sixth in the second session.

She qualified eighth and carried that pace into the Sprint Race, narrowly missing the podium in fourth.

The Australian repeated the result in the Feature Race, putting together another competitive performance to finish fourth and complete the round with two top-five finishes.

Raddatz also made her way forward when the racing began.

After placing 10th in the opening practice session, she was 13th in Practice 2 before qualifying 11th. She then gained two positions in the Sprint to finish ninth.

Her strongest drive came in the Feature Race, where Raddatz made further inroads through the field to take sixth at the chequered flag. The result represented a five-position improvement from her qualifying spot and gave the Australian a second top-10 finish for the weekend.

The Kyojo Cup resumes with Round 4, the penultimate event of the season, on 10–11 October, back at Fuji Speedway.

Lone Star Le Mans – Circuit of the Americas

Australian Yasser Shahin finished 15th in the LMGT3 class at the Lone Star Le Mans, sharing the #92 The Bend Manthey Porsche with Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz.

The trio showed mixed pace across the three practice sessions at the Circuit of The Americas, placing 14th in LMGT3 during Free Practice 1 before making a significant improvement in FP2 to finish sixth. They returned to 14th in the final practice session as the team continued to fine-tune its Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 ahead of qualifying.

Shahin, Pera and Lietz subsequently qualified 13th in class, leaving them just outside the Hyperpole session and facing a challenge from the midfield for the six-hour race.

The #92 Porsche completed 147 laps during the race, ultimately crossing the line 15th in LMGT3.

The World Endurance Championship now turns its attention to Asia as the season continues towards its closing stages.

Shahin returns to WEC action at the 6 Hours of Fuji taking place from 25–27 September.

Porsche Supercup – Monza

Australians Sam Shahin and rookie Caleb Sumich wrapped up their Porsche Supercup campaigns at Monza on the weekend, with Sumich delivering an encouraging performance in the final round of the season.

Sumich showed strong pace from the outset, setting the seventh-fastest time in Practice before qualifying 14th for the 8th and final round of the season.

He then produced a solid drive in the race to move through the field and finish 13th at the chequered flag.

For Shahin, the weekend centred towards the back of the grid.

He placed 24th in Practice and maintained that position in qualifying before finishing 21st in the season finale.

Both Australians look toward the offseason following a full season of international competition, with Sumich gaining valuable experience as he continues his Porsche pathway progression.

GT4 Italy Series – Imola

Aiva Anagnostiadis and Promodrive co-driver Andrea Palazzo secured a strong sixth-place finish in Race 2 of the GT4 Italy round at Monza.

The pair shared driving duties in the #27 BMW M4 GT4 EVO, producing a strong weekend across the two races at the Italian circuit.

They opened the weekend with an eighth-place finish in Race 1, where the pair navigated an action-packed race featuring two Safety Car periods, before stepping forward in the second encounter.

Anagnostiadis and Palazzo crossed the line sixth in Race 2, bringing their Monza weekend to a positive conclusion.

The result marked a solid showing for Anagnostiadis in the competitive GT4 Italy field, with the Australian combining with Palazzo to deliver two top-eight finishes across the round, the second of which she brought the car home to the pits.

The GT4 Italy Series comes to a close for 2026 in Round 5, with Anagnostiadis and the team going to Monza to round out the season from 9-11 October.

British GT Championship – Donington Park

Aussie pairing Josh Buchan and Cameron Campbell again lined up in the #13 Ferrari for Rodin Motorsport in the British GT Championship’s latest stop at Donington Park.

The pair battled hard in a tight qualifying session, locking up a GT3 position of P7, managing to snag a purple sector in the process in what felt like a superb effort for the Australians.

Buchan and Campbell were feeling good early in the 2 Hours of Donington before one of the competing cars forced Campbell off the road and onto the gravel.

By the time Buchan entered the car, the team focused on nursing the car back home to pit lane.

The duo crossed the line in ninth outright and in class to wrap up the round.

Buchan has returned to Australia ahead of the next round at Brands Hatch, scheduled for 26-27 September.
