Thursday 05 December, 2019

Garry Rogers Motorsport (GRM) and Renault Australia will continue their TCR partnership for the 2020 season with the manufacturer confirming their sponsorship for the Victorian team.

Next year will see the team rebranded to Renault Sport GRM with the team’s entries to don a Renault themed livery as it becomes the first manufacturer to commit to the 2020 carsales TCR Australia Series.

Garry Rogers Motorsport owner Barry Rogers was thrilled to have Renault continue their backing after what was a strong showing in the augural series.

“To have the backing of Renault Australia is something that provides GRM with tremendous confidence and belief,” Rogers said.

“Renault is a brand with unmatched motor sport history, being one of a very select group who have participated in Formula 1, World Rallying, Formula E and now the most relevant form of touring car racing in the world for manufacturers, TCR.

“As a family owned race team that was established by my Dad, Garry in 1963, we have tremendous pride in representing Renault Australia, the Renault dealer network and most importantly Renault owners as we travel the country racing our Renault Megane R.S.”

The two parties joined forces midway throughout the 2019 season with James Moffat’s Megane R.S representing the French manufacturer in its livery.

The strong partnership between the two saw Moffat pick up a number of top 10 finishes, including a season high third place at Sandown Raceway in September, as well as receiving the award for “Best Manufacturer Engagement Initiative”.

In 2020, the sponsorship deal will see the Garry Rogers Motorsport receive parts and Renault light commercial vehicles throughout the year, as it looks to run three cars on the grid.

Renault Australia Marketing Director Felix Boulin was excited to announce the news with the partnership presenting itself as an opportunity to grow the brand.

“The partnership with Garry Rogers Motorsport provides Renault Australia the ability to extend our motorsport association in Australia beyond Formula 1 and strengthens the connection between Renault’s racing heritage and our Renault Megane road vehicles,” Boulin explained.

“Throughout the 2019 season Garry, Barry and the entire team at Garry Rogers Motorsport went above and beyond supporting us, our customers and fans, and have proven to be extremely valuable ambassadors for the Renault brand in Australia.

“The performance of Garry Rogers Motorsport to date highlights the genuine racing pedigree of both the Megane R.S. and the team and as they continue to develop the cars.  We can’t wait to see what they do on track in 2020.”

The 2020 carsales TCR Australia Series will begin its 2020 calendar with a special TCR Asia Pacific round at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix before kicking off its season at Sydney Motorsport Park with the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships in March.
