Porsche Cars Australia will showcase their drivers in a new Esports event, the Porsche PAYCE and Michelin Virtual Cup Australia.

 

Featuring an array of stars from both the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge 2019 and 2020 seasons, the manufacturer hopes to add a fun flavour to the current growing Esports trend, which has recently increased in popularity.

 

Taking place every second Monday evening on the iRacing platform from 4 May, the field will be limited to 45 competitors with each driver to utilise a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car.

 

Adding to the already impressive roster of competitors, Porsche has also revealed a number of past Carrera Cup legends will contest the series, while an official Porsche Motorsport Australia car, driven by an international Porsche ambassador will also form part of the line-up.

 

One particular entry for Porsche fans to look out for throughout the series will be the Geisterfahrer (Ghost Driver) Car and fans are encouraged to guess the individual driving, with prizes on offer for those who are correct.

 

Following each round, which is made up of a 30-minute practice session, 20-minute qualifying and two races, post-round highlights will be released via Porsche Motorsport Australia and the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup’s social and YouTube channels.

 

The Porsche PAYCE and Michelin Virtual Cup Australia Championship’s first round takes place on Monday 4 May with the host circuit to be released shortly.
