A new grassroot sports funding initiative for not-for-profit sports in Queensland has been announced.
The Queensland Government has announced a new grassroot sports funding initiative for not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations, with Motorsport Australia affiliated clubs eligible to apply.
Part of the State Government’s Sport and Recreation COVID SAFE Restart Plan, the Active Restart Infrastructure Recovery Fund will give successful applicants funding for minor upgrades or maintenance works on facilities and equipment.
Queensland based Motorsport Australia affiliated clubs and organisations are encouraged to apply for the grant, which has up to $20,000 available across two categories for successful and eligible applicants.
The funding will be available to ABN registered organisations who fit under specific Queensland or Commonwealth Association Acts and are either not-for-profit, regional sport or active recreation organisations.
Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca believed the initiative was a great opportunity for Queensland clubs.
“This is a fantastic opportunity from the Queensland Government and for our clubs to get a helping hand for projects that have been shelved because of COVID-19,” Arocca said.
“These offers don’t come around too often, so I encourage our Motorsport Australia affiliated clubs to submit an application.
“Motorsport Australia would be very happy to help clubs and organisations needing assistance with their applications , especially given there is significant funding available.
“Whether is the funding is used for major operations like facility maintenance and high-end equipment purchases or minor requirements like painting and reducing organisational costs, it’s an important opportunity for clubs to carefully consider what they need.”
Applications will remain open until 7 August with each application’s eligibility to be assessed. If successful, the applicant will receive funding up to either $5000 or $20,000.
