Caitlin Wood enjoyed a mixed night in the W Series Esports League’s latest round at Suzuka after the Australian bagged two top-10 finishes during the races.

 

Heading into the round in fourth place on the outright standings, Wood had the opportunity to close the gap on third in the opening race as she qualified in fourth and finished on the podium.

 

However it wasn’t to be as the series’ third placed driver in Marta Garcia eventually won the race over outright leader Beitske Visser, extending the points difference between Wood and her.

 

Wood was able to do better in the evening’s second race as opposed to last week’s reverse-grid race as she finished seventh after starting 10 places below, but once again Garcia finished above her in fourth place, while fellow Spaniard, Belen Garcia, ended up taking out the win.

 

It got from bad to worse for Sidorkova in the round’s final race as she and Wood went from starting on the second row to finishing outside the top 10, with the Russian getting no points from the race.

 

Wood on the other hand was able to secure some vital points as she crossed the line in 14th place, ending the round 47 points behind Sidorkova as a result.

 

Marta Garcia completed the night on a high, claiming victory over Nerea Marti and Visser in the third race, as well as building a handy 23 point gap between her and Sidorkova, while Marti’s good haul of points over the three races saw her slot into fifth place – just five points behind Wood.

 

The series heads down under next week with the iconic Mount Panorama hosting the W Series Esports League’s eighth round.
