High-octane Brock Documentary lands on ABC
Tuesday 03 November, 2020
A documentary taking a closer look at the life of motorsport legend, Peter Brock will make its Australian television debut tonight.
Premiering on the ABC, Brock: Over the Top not only delves into Brock’s 30-year career behind the wheel, but also into the human side of the icon himself.
The feature-length documentary contains a mix of rare archival content and is complemented by a number of interviews from household figures in Australian motorsport, as well as his family, friends and partners.
Some of the personalities to feature as part of the thrilling documentary include his brothers Phil and Lewis, long-time partner Bev Brock and son James, as well as journalists Phil Scott and Dr John Wright.
Often hailed as The King of the Mountain, Brock was a larger than life individual who was always closely scrutinised but was always loved by the public for his obsession to be the best and his skill behind the wheel.
The tributes to the motorsport icon have continued long past his tragic death in 2006.
Throughout his career, he managed to win the Bathurst 1000 nine times, setting a record that will unlikely ever be broken, as well as winning the Australian Touring Car Championship three times.
While the documentary does touch on Brock’s motorsport achievements that made him a national cultural icon, it moves away from the surface of what the public saw and gives a rare insight into what made him who he was.
Brock: Over the Top broadcasts on ABC TV at 8.30pm AEDT on Tuesday 3 November, before being available to stream via ABC’s online platform, iView.
