The FIA held its annual Prize Giving ceremony virtually.
The FIA has held its annual Prize Giving ceremony last weekend, with the event taking place virtually for the first time ever.
All the 2020 champions and winners for FIA certified championships were honoured throughout the event, including teenager Oscar Piastri who won the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Also being recognised during the virtual ceremony were the 900 officials who formed part of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2020 officials team after they were named as the FIA’s Best Team of Officials of the Season in November.
FIA President Jean Todt, who was in attendance paid tribute to all of those who organised the event despite not being able to be in person.
“2020 has been an unprecedented year and it’s remarkable to be here and to be able to honour our champions,” Todt said.
“Unfortunately, they cannot be with us in person tonight, but the most important thing is that, through creativity and resourcefulness, we have been able to organise championships – and we have champions to celebrate. I would like to pay credit to all those who made it possible.”
