New Zealand based fans will now be able to watch the 2021 Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships via Sky New Zealand.
New Zealand motorsport fans will now be able to watch every round of the 2021 Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships with Sky New Zealand signing on as the exclusive Kiwi broadcaster.
Considered the home of motorsport for the country, Sky New Zealand has committed to showcasing all six rounds of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, as well as other Australian Racing Group run events such as this month’s Boost Mobile Race Tasmania and the inaugural Bathurst International.
The deal means that every country worldwide will be able to tune into the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships in 2021 with Australian audiences to watch via the Seven Network and 7plus app and popular streaming service Motorsport.tv providing coverage to international fans around the world.
Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith was thrilled to be able to sign Sky New Zealand for 2021.
“The 2021 Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships will be one of the biggest and best yet and today’s announcement further highlights the growing stature of these events,” Smith said.
“Together with the Australian Racing Group, we’re really excited to provide motorsport fans both here in Australia and New Zealand, as well as around the world, with live access to a huge range of categories and drivers who will all be eager to put on a show.
“With Race Tasmania taking place this weekend, we can’t wait for the racing to get underway before moving to the first Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event at Phillip Island in February as part of the Australian All Wheels Race Fest.”
Sky New Zealand CEO Sophie Moloney also welcomed the new opportunity to broadcast the Championships.
“We are pretty excited to be adding this fantastic suite of motorsport events to the Sky grid in 2021,” Moloney said.
“Races will feature expert and emerging drivers and their crews, and fans in Aotearoa will be able to chart their journeys in what promises to be an incredible season of racing.”
The broadcast deal begins as early as this month with coverage for Australian Racing Group’s Boost Mobile Race Tasmania to take place from 12pm midday AEDT on Monday 25 January.
Scheduled to compete at the first major national race meeting for the year will be popular categories such as the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, the VHT S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship and the National Trans Am Series.
Taking place at Symmons Plains Raceway, the Boost Mobile Race Tasmania will run on 24-26 January.
