Doohan to drive F2 car
Tuesday 30 November, 2021
Jack Doohan will race in the FIA Formula 2 Championship's remaining two rounds for 2021.
Jack Doohan’s Formula 2 debut will come sooner than expected with the Queenslander securing a drive in the Championship’s remaining two rounds for the year.
The 18-year-old will contest the final two rounds of the season with Dutch outfit, MP Motorsport, joining Richard Verschoor and fellow Formula 3 graduate Clement Novalak for the two rounds.
While it was known that Doohan was likely to be competing in Formula 1’s second tier next year after finishing second in the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year, he will get a crucial taste for it this year at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Doohan won’t be the only Australian competing in the championship this weekend with Oscar Piastri currently leading the way and on the hunt for the top prize.
The FIA Formula 2 Championship’s penultimate round will be part of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at Jeddah Corniche Circuit this weekend before finishing the season up at the Abu Grand Prix at Yas Marina on 10-12 December.
