Ferrari Driver Academy driver James Wharton has announced he will continue racing In Formula 4 with Prema Racing in 2023.
Having raced with the powerhouse team in 2022 in both the Italian, German and UAE Formula Championships this year, Wharton will run a similar program for next season.
The announcement comes off the back of an impressive debut season in all three championships, with the Aussie finishing fifth in both the Italian and ADAC championships.
The 2020 FDA Scouting World Final winner also picked up a string of podium finishes and junior race wins in both European championships, as well as race wins in the UAE.
In the Italian Championship, Wharton claimed four third place finishes as well as a second-place result at the Red Bull Ring in round five.
The youngster also picked up a pair of third place finishes in the ADAC Championship at Circuit de Spa and the Nürburgring.
Announcing the news via social media, the 16-year-old expressed his excitement for the year ahead and gratitude to the team and the FDA.
“I am proud to announce I will continue racing with Prema in F4 next year,” Wharton wrote.
“Being part of the Prema family for another season is an honour and I am looking forward to making a big step forward.
“Thank you to the team and the #FDA for their ongoing support, I can’t wait to get started!”
