The Holden Sporting Car Club of Queensland (HSCCQ) hosted the Queensland Khanacross Championship over the weekend, with a healthy field of 46 competitors taking part.
Held at Willowbank Raceway, competitors completed four tests with their times accumulating to a final score.
Claiming victory in thrilling fashion was Dick Reynolds, who beat Phillip Dalton buy four seconds.
Although Reynolds won the event, it was Dalton who actually went faster on all four tests and topped the timesheets on every run, only for two penalties to ultimately demote him to second place behind the ever-consistent Reynolds.
Remarkably, Dalton’s five second penalty came on the final run which ended up proving the difference between he and Reynolds.
Taking out the final place on the podium was Sadrick Lim, who finished a further seven seconds off the runner-up.
The top three were the only ones to go less than 80 seconds in every test, with Lim always just over two seconds slower than Reynolds on each run.
While Dalton and Lim ultimately missed out on the event win, neither went home empty handed as they claimed class victories – Dalton topping the Class E field and Lim the Class D field.
Finishing the event in fourth place was Class B winner Paul Bond, while Rhys Ellison rounded out the top five and placed second in Class C behind the overall winner in Reynolds.
Other notable class victories included the seventh placed Robert Bowers who went fastest in Class G, Ian Colebatch in Class A and Bill Black in Class F.
