A seven-round Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS calendar has been announced by SRO Motorsports Group, with the popular series to predominantly feature as part of Shannons SpeedSeries in 2024.
Featuring an impressive range of cars, the category has enjoyed positive growth over the last 12 months of action under the Australian Racing Group banner but will now look to leverage global resources on hand from SRO.
GT World Challenge Australia will host both Sprint and Endurance Cups across six of Australia’s most popular racetracks, kicking off with the world-renowned Bathurst 12 Hour event at Mount Panorama Circuit in February.
Aside from the 12 Hour, all rounds will feature as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar.
The 12-hour will also be one of two Endurance Cup rounds in 2024 with the other taking place under the lights at Sydney Motorsport Park in October in a four-hour affair.
The five-round Sprint calendar will set in motion at another world-famous location, Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in April before heading to Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in May.
Queensland Raceway will then host round four, with the location of the fifth round still to be confirmed. The season will then come to a close with a New South Wales double-header at Sydney Motorsport Park and Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.
Throughout the year, points from both the Sprint and Endurance aspects of the event will be combined to crown an overall champion.
The announcement comes off the back of SRO recently launching its calendar for a brand-new GT4 Series – which will also feature on Shannons SpeedSeries events.
The weekend formats will take place as follows:
Sprint Championship
2 x 60 Minute Practice Sessions, Qualifying Minimum 2 x 20 Minute Sessions, Races 2 x 60 Minutes
Endurance Championship
