The Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club (MSCC) has hosted its first event for the year, with the New South Wales based Club hosting a khanacross event in front of a big crowd of spectators.

A strong field of 25 competitors took part in the club’s season opener, which saw each driver get 12 runs of the special course at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds in what was a busy day.

With every run contributing to a participant’s final score, taking out top honours for the day was Andrew Bostock after the Holden Cruze driver picked up a total time of 664.79 seconds.

In what proved a dominant victory, Bostock was fastest on all 12 runs and was the only driver to go under 700 seconds, with the next best driver being Jude Livermore in the Nissan Pulsar.

Livermore himself ended the day with an impressive record; the junior driver came extremely close to winning a run on multiple occasions, with his eventual total time being a respectable 710 seconds.

The battle for second place was far closer as Mitsubishi Cordia driver Stuart McConville finished just 12 seconds off Livermore to round out the podium.

Just missing out on the podium was Harrison Bugg, the Subaru WRX pilot falling just short of third place by 11 seconds, while Aiden Boresch steered a Subaru Impreza to fifth place, a further 12 seconds off.

Although Livermore missed out on the win and Boresch an outright podium, the juniors still put on a show in an event focused on the development of young drivers, with 10 youngsters featuring in the event.

With the exception of Livermore, every junior was behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza provided by the club itself as they handled the wet conditions without any major issues – as Jarrod Houben and Thomas Busbridge sneaking into the top 10.

Bostock (Class E), Livermore (Junior) and McConville (Class A/B) all took out top honours in their respective classes, while John Panozzo took out Class C/D in his Mitsubishi 380.
