Heuzenroeder gains support from major motorsport name

Patrick Heuzenroeder has received a major boost ahead of his maiden GB3 campaign after being selected to participate in a mentoring program run by globally recognised brand, Brabham Group.

Headed up by David Brabham, the program will see Heuzenroeder work closely with the former Formula 1 driver in 2024, who will develop and guide him in his bid to become a Formula 1 driver himself, starting off with this year’s GB3 charge.

Boasting more than 30 years of motorsport experience, which includes multiple victories at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans and 12 Hours of Sebring, holding a Team Director role at Motorsport UK’s British Elite Driver Programme for six years, and being the son of Australian Motorsport legend, Sir Jack Brabham – Brabham is a good position to give Heuzenroeder a solid foundation to build on.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a stellar rise up the ranks in open-wheel racing. Starting off with a strong Karting Australia career, Heuzenroeder participated in the 2022 Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program, in which he progressed to the final six.

Making the big move to the United Kingdom at the start of 2023, the New South Welshman made his official single-seater debut with Argenti Motorsport in the British Formula 4 Championship, where he showed plenty of promise with a number of top 10 finishes in what was a highly competitive field.

Impressing a handful of teams during a brief GB3 spell at the end of last year and intense winter testing earlier this year, Heuzenroeder signed with JHR Developments for the 2024 GB3 Championship season, which begins this weekend at Oulton Park circuit.

In addition to joining the Brabham Group mentoring programme, Heuzenroeder has also been signed by highly regarded UK F1 comms and PR team, Diagonal Comms.

“I am incredibly excited to be working with an Aussie racing legend of the stature of David Brabham. He is part of one of the world’s greatest motorsport dynasties, the Brabham family, and I am very fortunate to have him as my mentor,” Heuzenroeder explained.

“I intend to learn as much from him as I can, as fast as possible.

“I am also thrilled to be working with Matt Bishop and his team at Diagonal Comms. Their skills and experience can help raise my profile and create new opportunities that will take me to where I want to be. My ultimate goal is Formula 1, and I am determined to chase and realise that dream.

“I am looking forward to taking the next step this season in the GB3 Championship – a highly competitive eight-round series that races on some of the world’s most famous circuits. I will be up against some of the most talented young drivers on the planet, and you can be sure that one of us will go on to make it to F1. I am working tirelessly – both in the car and out of it – every day to make sure that it is me.”

Brabham was thrilled to have Heuzenroeder join him at Brabham Group.

“I very much look forward to working with Patrick Heuzenroeder over the course of the year as he competes in the very competitive British GB3 Championship,” Brabham said.

“I know that the path to Formula 1 will be a challenging one, but Patrick has speed and a great attitude, and he wants to learn. He has all the attributes needed to succeed in motorsport.

“I am looking forward to sharing my experience with him, opening up my network, and supporting him at tests and races, to get him to F1. In addition, I have known Matt Bishop for many years, and I am delighted that Patrick will be working with Matt and his Diagonal Comms team.

“Patrick is an ambitious and driven young man and I would encourage everyone to get behind him, not only in Australia but also elsewhere. I look forward to supporting and mentoring him in 2024 and beyond.”

Heuzenroeder will be one of two Aussies entered in the GB3 season opener this weekend, with Flynn Jackes to run in the season under the Chris Dittmann Racing banner.
