The 2023 Phillip Island Auto Racing Club’s (PIARC) ever-popular Island Magic is beginning to take shape with 140 competitors confirmed to take part in the event.

To be held at the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the 33rd edition of the event will host eight categories over the weekend, with the Sports Sedans’ Ramada Resort’s 50K Plate being the feature act.

A strong field of 40 cars is entered in the category’s pinnacle annual event, which is the final round of the 2023 Victorian Sports Sedan Series season and celebrates a rich 51-year history.

The Sports Sedans won’t be the only tin tops taking centre stage throughout the weekend though, with Isola di Capri PIARC Victorian Historic Touring Cars to attract a solid field of more than 30 cars made up of Monaros, Camaros, Cortinas, Mazdas, Mustangs, Toranas and BMWs.

While not holding the same prestige as the 50k Plate, the Improved Production Cars’ Traction Tyre Centre/Yokohama Matthew Flinders Plate will also provide fans with an entertaining show.

A strong field has committed to the category over the weekend, with South Australian Adam Poole headlining the entry list in his highly impressive Holden Monaro.

Rounding out the tin top bill for the event will be the Porsche 944 Challenge, which will see competitors battle it out over three races in the Isola di Capri Endeavour Cup.

The annual race meeting will also be hosting a handful of open-wheel categories, including Formula Vee, Formula Ford and the Australian Formula Open Series.

Entering its sixth and final round of 2023, fans of the Australian Formula Open Series have enjoyed a season-long battle between the two major title contenders in Trent Grubel and Ryan How, with the duo having won every race between them.

Heading into the final round, Grubel holds a 20-point advantage over How and sits in the box seat for the national series’ title, considering he has only finished one race outside the top two this year.

Boasting one of the biggest fields for the weekend will be SPECO VHT Formula Vee, with more than 30 cars entered in the round, while the combined Formula Ford and Formula Ford Duratec rounds out the list of categories with an entry list of around 20 cars.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase and can be done so online.

Saturday’s action will see every category have practice and qualifying before an opening first, while a sprint and feature race for each grid will make up Sunday’s schedule.

The 2023 PIARC Island Magic takes place at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 25-26 November.
