Supercars unveil Gen3 chassis

The Chassis for the new Supercars Gen3 Project has been built.
The Repco Supercars Championship has taken a major step towards its new Gen3 project after a revealing images of the second prototype chassis.
With PACE Innovations behind the research and development of the current Supercars models, Car of The Future’ (COTF) and prototypes, the Queensland-based international motorsport supplier has been working hard to build the new design.
Having built a number of teams’ ‘spaceframe’ underpinnings, PACE will supply defending team champions Shell V-Power Racing with the second prototype for further development.
Fans’ first look at the new chassis include images of front and rear sections, which Supercars CEO Sean Seamer was excited with.
“We’re very pleased that the second chassis is now completed and ready to begin the next phase of development with the Ford homologation team,” Seamer said.
“I’d like to thank the crew who have put in thousands of hours to reach this point, particularly the staff at PACE who have a history of international success.”
Supercars Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess echoed Seamer’s comments and believed the Gen3 chassis highlights the category’s commitment to increased road relevance, improved racing and greater safety.

“We’re proud of the work that has gone into the design and styling of the Gen3 cars. They look fantastic,” Burgess added.

“We’re also very satisfied with the developments we have made in regard to safety and repairability, which was a key objective of the program.”
PACE Innovations will supply the completed chassis to the majority of the Supercars field on top of being the chassis kit supplier.
Chairman and CEO of the Dick John Racing Team, Ryan Story believed this was a major major bonus for the championship.
“Pace Innovations has been the chassis supplier to the Shell V-Power Racing Team since 2012 and together we have won three Drivers’ and three Teams’ championships since that time,” Story said.

“They are an excellent partner with enormous experience and expertise; a perfect fit as we reach this important milestone being the completion of the prototype Gen3 Supercar chassis for the Ford Mustang GT.”
