With each driver’s best time from the four patterns accumulating to an overall time, it was Amanda Adams in the MG Midget who came away with the victory after tallying up a total time score of 144.28 seconds thanks to a challenge win and two runners-up.
Adams’ green MG Midget seemed to be the good luck charm with her father Graeme just three seconds off the pace in outright second place after claiming second in the first challenge and third in the penultimate challenge.
Last year’s outright series winner Andrew Coon came agonisingly close to finishing ahead of the outright runner-up, however with his best result being a second place in the final challenge, Coon settled with third place and the Class A win, with only three tenths separating he and Graeme Adams.
Rounding out the top five was another former champion in Daryl Coon and challenge three winner Graeme Ruby, who also secured the Group B class, while challenge one winner Jon McGovern finished just over a second behind Ruby in sixth place.
“It was awesome to take out the win. The car didn’t doo too well in the rain but I cam pre pared with wet weather clothes, but everyone was in the same boat,” Adams said.
“I like racing on grass so when we went on the second skidpan when it was a little bit slippery was good fun and the gripper surface was not too bad with a little bit of water on it.
“I put down the performance to a really well-prepped car and obviously the car to be first and second put a smile on dad’s face and he was pretty proud the Adams family could come one and two, especially against some good competitors and to be up there against them is fantastic.
“My biggest competition is my dad and he’s been doing motorkhanas for years. He has been my number one competition and to beat him in anyway put a smile on my face. It was just a great day.”
While the wet weather proved difficult for some, it didn’t faze John Hastie who took out the second challenge of the day after coming second in the first, although a poor final change saw the contender drop down to 14th.
