The FIA Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring Program will return to the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in 2025, providing young women aged 16-22 with an incredible opportunity to step into the world of motorsport.
Taking place on Thursday, 13 March 2025, at the Albert Park Circuit, this unique program will offer participants an exclusive look behind the scenes of one of the world’s most iconic motorsport events. Highlights include a garage tour with the Kick F1 Team, a meet and greet with its drivers, networking opportunities with industry professionals, and Q&A sessions with inspiring guest speakers who will share insights into motorsport career pathways.
Now in its fourth year, the program continues to inspire and empower young women, with many past participants securing valuable roles and experiences in major events like MotoGP and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
Girls on Track Ambassadors, Champions, and industry supporters will play key roles in guiding the young women during the event, with some offering ongoing mentorship to selected participants after the program
One of the FIA Girls on Track Ambassadors who will be taking part is Krystina Emmanouilidis, who works with the Kick F1 Team as a Senior CFD Engineer.
“Together with my team, this program offers a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and connect with the industry professionals who quite literally put the show on the road,” Emmanouilidis said.
“Over the years, we’ve seen incredible collaboration between participants and employees, making this day a shining example that motorsport is a place where women truly belong.
“This year, we are thrilled to welcome back two participants from last year who will undertake work experience with the team – an opportunity I could have only dreamed of growing up in Australia.”
In 2025, all applicants will also be required to obtain a free Motorsport Australia Officials Licence and complete the associated General Officials Training Module for the application to be considered.
Officiating is a critical part of motorsport, ensuring events are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This pathway provides an excellent opportunity for young women to gain hands-on experience, build industry connections, become part of a like-minded community and develop essential skills that can serve as a stepping stone into a motorsport career. From grassroots events to major international competitions like the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, officiating offers a unique entry point into the sport and valuable exposure to the wide range of roles available within the industry.
Entry for the FIA Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring opportunity is limited, with just 20 young women selected and interested participants can apply now for a chance to attend.
Prospective candidates must apply through the 2025 Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring form by 11:59pm AEDT on Monday, 6 January. Applicants will be notified via email by Monday 20 January with the status of their application.
Former Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring participant Tayla Purves praised the program after attending in 2024.
“The Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring event at the 2024 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix was an incredible experience, one I will treasure for a lifetime and that has been pivotal in my professional development,” Purves said.
“The opportunity to engage in the Formula One paddock with Kick Sauber, learning from their managing director Alessandro Alunni Bravi, touring their box and getting up close with the cars, with the access to endless answers to our questions was very beneficial for my own understanding of the sport.
“Further engagement during the networking lunch provided endless insight, support, and encouragement to further capitalise on what we already knew, while aiding our network relationships, and enhanced opportunities that were continuous well after the event.”
Since taking part in the 2024 program, Purves has received further interviews and opportunities for jobs through ongoing mentoring and secured a role as a published writer with The Collective Drive.
