The Minister for Sport The Hon. Anika Wells met with Formula One interns from Motorsport Australia’s FIA Girls on Track program, reinforcing the governments’ commitment to supporting women in motorsport.
The FIA Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring Program returned to the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in 2025, providing young women aged 16-22 with an incredible opportunity to step into the world of motorsport.
Now in its fourth year, the program continues to inspire and empower young women, with two 2024 participants securing an internship with the Kick Sauber F1 Team for the duration of the Grand Prix this weekend.

The FIA Motorsport Australia Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring Program at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, provides young women aged 16-22 with an opportunity to experience the world of motorsport, firsthand. Two participants from the 2024 program advanced to internships in the Formula One Paddock this weekend.
During her engagement with interns Angelique Vitale and Tyra Lawler-Cass, they talked about the importance of increasing female participation in motorsport at all levels and acknowledged the positive impact with Girls on Track creating pathways for young women in the industry.
Motorsport Australia continues to work closely with the Australian Sports Commission to expand opportunities for aspiring female motorsport professionals, ensuring initiatives like Girls on Track remain a driving force for change.
