SRO Motorsports Australia has announced the provisional 2026 Shannons
SpeedSeries calendar, which will be made up of six rounds across five Australian states
and territories.
With the announcement forming part of SRO Motorsports Group global calendar reveal
ahead of the famous CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, next year’s exciting schedule will see
history being made for the Shannons SpeedSeries as it holds a round in the Northern
Territory for the first time ever.
While many of the traditional Shannons SpeedSeries circuits will feature in the schedule,
including a season-opening round at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the calendar is
highlighted by a visit to the Top End for the fan-favourite Hidden Valley Raceway in July.
In addition to Hidden Valley Raceway, the Shannons SpeedSeries will also hold events at
Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway and Sydney Motorsport Park, before
finishing the year off at the iconic Sandown International Raceway.
Confirmed to have a major presence at the Shannons SpeedSeries in 2026 will be GT World
Challenge Australia powered by AWS and Monochrome GT4 Australia Series, with both categories to lead exciting programs.
Taking part in the first five rounds of the Shannons SpeedSeries season, GT World
Challenge Australia powered by AWS will headline the five events it features in, while the
ever-growing Monochrome GT4 Australia series will have the honour of leading the final
round at Sandown.
In another significant achievement for SRO Motorsports Australia, the brand-new Mustang
Cup Australia’s highly anticipated Australian debut will feature exclusively on the Shannons
SpeedSeries bill in 2026 and will run at all six rounds of the season.
Following in the footsteps of a similar series in the United States, the one-make entry-level
category will be made up of the V8-powered Mustang Dark Horse R race car, which is
inspired by the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse coupe.
Further details on the 2026 season, including the featuring categories, broadcast
arrangements and event details will be released in due course.
CEO SRO Motorsports Australia, Ben McMellan welcomes the announcement of the 2026 calendar, including the Hidden Valley Raceway for the first time.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to unveil the provisional calendar for the 2026 season
as part of the global announcement here at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa,” McMellan
said.
“It’s very exciting to be able to take the Shannons SpeedSeries to Darwin for the first time
in its history – Hidden Valley is a fantastic race track and the locals deserve more national
level motorsport, so to be able to take some of the best racing categories up there is a big
positive for all parties.
“It will also be fantastic to have the brand new Mustang Cup Australia making its Australian
debut as a major part of the Shannons SpeedSeries and we look forward to seeing them in
action next year.
“Starting at Phillip Island is slowly becoming a tradition for the Shannons SpeedSeries, so
it’s great that we kick off the season there next year.
“We have been hard at work at getting this provisional calendar locked in, but doing so
allows us to get a head start on building the foundations for the season and our major
stakeholders to begin their initial preparations for next year.”
The 2025 Shannons SpeedSeries continues next month with the GT Festival Sandown to
take place at Sandown International Raceway on 25–27 July.
