Represent Australia at the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship

Australian Esports competitors will have the chance to qualify for a world-class international event later this year, providing a rare opportunity for local drivers to represent their country.

In the lead-up to the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship at Speedbay Circuit, Bandaragama, Sri Lanka, a qualifying event will take place on iRacing from 29-31 August. This qualifying event will involve an online leaderboard found on the dedicated Discord server.

The top 15 fastest countries (based on lap time) by the end of the qualifying window will secure a berth to the in-person sim racing LAN event at the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship.

To take part in the qualifying and get the chance to represent Australia, drivers must be and Australian Citizen and 16 years or older as of 25 September this year.

Motorsport Australia will cover flights, accomodation and the entry fee for the driver who qualifies for the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship Esports event. The successful driver will require a Motorsport Australia Esports Licence and will be required to cover any additional costs such as food and other travel related items.

The qualifying and main event are as structured:

Qualifier

  • Leaderboard dates: 29-31 August 2025
  • Car: FIA F4
  • Track: Okayama International Circuit – Full Course
  • Drivers compete through qualifying leaderboard on iRacing by achieving their fastest time with the given car and track.
  • The fastest 15 countries in Asia Pacific to register a lap time on the leaderboard will be invited to the main event in Sri Lanka

Main event

  • Location: SpeedBay, Bandaragama in Sri Lanka
  • Dates: 26 – 28 September 2025
  • Car: FIA F4
  • Track Pool: Okayama International Circuit – Full Course, Circuito de Navarra – Speed Circuit, Circuit de Ledenon
  • Format: Two rounds and a Grand Final

Round 1 of the main event consists of three races in which drivers will be divided into three groups based on their preliminary hot-lap qualifier times from the online leaderboard. Each driver will accumulate points from this race which they will carry forward to Round 2.

Round 2 will also consist of three races, however, in this round they will be grouped based on their Round 1 results. The three drivers with the highest points will be randomly assigned to a group and the subsequent drivers will also be randomly assigned.

The top 10 drivers after the two rounds qualify for the Grand Final. Prize: Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three place-getters.
