Only one driver will emerge as Champion from Supercars’ first-ever Grand Final this weekend on the streets of Adelaide.
The 25-car Supercars field has hit the track on Thursday for first practice, with plenty of attention directed toward the four drivers battling it out to be crowned 2025 Repco Supercars Champion.
Championship leader Broc Feeney, two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert, defending Supercars champion Will Brown, and rookie Kai Allen will wear orange numbers for this weekend’s racing, which will represent their eligibility in the inaugural Supercars Finals.
As part of the revamped Supercars Finals Series, all four drivers have had their points reset following the Sandown 500 two weeks ago.
As the top seed, Feeney will begin this weekend’s proceedings with 5050 points, followed by Mostert at 5030, Brown at 5015, and Allen at 5000.
There are 300 points total on offer across this weekend’s three races.
The Finals driver with the most points at the end of the weekend will be regarded as 2025 Supercars champion.
Feeney has had a year to remember, having already claimed 13 wins and 16 pole positions, the latter of which has already tied Scott McLaughlin’s all-time record from 2017.
The 23-year old from the Gold Coast won the Super3 and Super2 titles on his way up the Supercars ladder and will be striving to attain his first Supercars title and write himself into the history books.
“The fan excitement has been massive this year, and to see the turnout for the weekend is already shaping up to be a huge one,” Feeney said.
“It’d be easy to be complacent and be stoked this season was done the old way, I’d have one hand on the Championship, but at the same time it’s a great opportunity to seal it this weekend one way or another.
“Three races, I’ve got three extremely competitive guys behind me fighting for a Championship, so from a fan’s point of view, it’s going to be really exciting racing this weekend.”
Mount Gambier’s Kai Allen has shocked pundits by working his way into the championship mix at the very end of the season.
The 20-year old, still competing in his first full Supercars season, has been remarkably consistent and finds himself as the fourth and final seed in the Grand Final. The last rookie to become champion was Craig Lowndes in 1996.
Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert enters the weekend as the second seed after winning the first three races of the Supercars Finals series at Gold Coast and Sandown.
Defending Supercars champion Will Brown’s storming drives through the field at Sandown placed him into the third seed for the Grand Final.
“For us, fortunately or unfortunately, we have two cars in the final four, which is an amazing result, but we’re both out there racing for a Championship ourselves, so there is no favouring either car,” Brown said.
“Last year, we won it on pace throughout the year and the experience from last year was great to learn, so heading into this weekend, I think we’ve sort of been in this situation before.
“Obviously this year, we probably haven’t been as strong as we want to, but we had a great Sandown racing through the pack showing really good pace, and I think it’s anyone’s chance this weekend.
“There’s three races, a lot on the line, and any of us in the top four can take it out.”
There will be three Supercars races this weekend, with a 100-kilometre Friday race on the famed Adelaide street circuit to kick off the racing schedule.
Saturday and Sunday will feature the customary 250-kilometre Supercars race, with the all-new Finals format all-but guaranteeing the Championship battle will go down to the final lap of 2025.
As part of a special addition to the 25-car field, wildcard entry NASCAR driver Austin Cindric enters the fold for the highly-anticipated Grand Final event.
Live coverage of the bp Adelaide Grand Final will be available on the screens of Foxtel and the Seven Network.
