Australia’s Jack Doohan will return to the Formula 1 paddock, signing with the Haas TGR Formula One Team as a Reserve Driver for 2026.
Doohan joins the American-based outfit from Alpine after contesting six races to start the 2025 Formula 1 season, beginning his campaign at the Australian Grand Prix, before fulfilling reserve driver duties for the remainder of year following the Miami Grand Prix.
“I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” Doohan said.
“It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together.
“I’m eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season.”
His Formula 1 race debut took place at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, coincidentally substituting for Haas-bound driver Esteban Ocon, after serving as Alpine’s reserve driver throughout the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
The 23-year-old Queenslander driver was previously a member of the team’s academy program, and prior to his promotion to a race seat had participated in a series of free practice and test sessions.
Doohan, son of five-time MotoGP World Champion Mick Doohan, enjoyed a stellar junior career including a runner-up finish in the FIA Formula 3 series in 2021.
TGR Haas F1 Team Team Principal Ayao Komatsu stated he was personally excited to have Doohan join the team, given the strength of his racing resume and his experience being a reserve driver.
“The dedication required to remain sharp and prepared to race while getting to know how the team works and so on, it’s challenging for any driver – especially one who’s obviously still very keen to race again at this level.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jack and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the team and benefiting from his contributions.”
Doohan joins Japan’s Ryō Hirakawa as one of the two reserve drivers for the team.
Doohan and the TGR Haas F1 Team heads to Bahrain International Circuit for two official tests, from 11-13 February 11-13 and 18-20 February respectively, before the opening round of the 24-race 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship – the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix.
