2026 Supercars season ready to rumble

After an extended summer break, the wait is over for the commencement of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship at this weekend’s Dunlop Sydney 500.

New drivers, a new defending champion, and a new machine in the Supercars field sets the stage for another exciting Supercars campaign, beginning at Sydney Motorsport Park 20-22 February.

The 2026 season builds off a record-breaking 2025 after 1.64 million fans attended races, including 102,000 at Grand Final Sunday alone.

Broadcast figures grew by 17 per cent and streaming rose by 42 per cent to see Chaz Mostert secure his maiden Supercars Championship at the Adelaide Grand Final.

“The racing delivered everything we promised and more.  Nine different Boost Mobile pole winners. 75 percent of drivers reached the podium, a record for the sport surpassing 2014,” Supercars Chief Executive James Warburton said.

“Two of the closest finishes in our history. The tightest manufacturer battle in more than 20 years – quite frankly the best motorsport racing on the planet.”

Twenty-four drivers make up the youngest grid in history, with five new rookie faces also joining the fray. Jackson Walls, Rylan Gray, Zach Bates, Jayden Ojeda and Jobe Stewart.

The 2026 season schedule will involve 14 rounds and 37 races over a record 7,135km, with the Finals Series a returning factor in the final championship run home. Unchanged to the inaugural format, the Finals begin at the Gold Coast 500, before heading to the Sandown 500 and culminating on the streets of Adelaide for the Adelaide Grand Final.

Every session is live on Kayo Sports and Foxtel with coverage complemented by Channel Seven and 7+, starting this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins this Friday at Sydney Motorsport Park – tickets can be purchased here through Ticketek.
