Surging interest for Winton Festival of Speed

Anticipation is building for the 2026 edition of the Winton Festival of Speed, celebrating historic Australian motorsport and high-country culture next month on 24-26 July.

Registrations are already nearing 200 according to event organisers, with the festival braced to welcome more than 350 race cars at the Winton Raceway.

Festival organisers and Motorsport Australia are encouraging owners of AUSCARS, V8Brutes and The Fitzy Cup eligible Porsches to register their entries as soon as possible.

The three Australian racing categories are the latest exciting additions to one of the Victorian Historic Racing Register’s premier annual events.

Winton Festival of Speed Event Lead Ian Ross stated the committee is extremely encouraged by entries received so far.

“As always, the door is always open to more participation,” Ross said.

“The event will take some significant steps forward in its off-track attraction offerings for spectators and competitors in 2026 – put simply, we don’t want anyone to miss out.

“AUSCARS, V8Brutes and The Fitzy Cup all feature legendary cars that were in the hands of legends when raced in-period.

“They are a new and exciting addition to the festival lineup of on-track categories as part of a broader, more accommodating approach to welcome these cars out from the shed and back to where they belong – on track.”

The entry list is already highlighted by an incredible number of Group N Historic Touring, and Group S Classic Sports Cars which has seen a combined influx of 70 cars registered.

The popular Touring Car Tributes, has also seen significant interest with 25 entries confirmed since opening a few weeks ago.

The Fitzy Cup is gaining momentum, with a balance of 996 and 997 Cup Cars, complemented by endurance racing specials.

Further news and exciting updates will be announced in the coming weeks on the festival’s communication platforms.
