WRC2 – Paraguay

Australian Taylor Gill and co-driver Daniel Brkic have secured the best FIA World Rally Championship result of Gill’s career at Rally del Paraguay, finishing fourth in WRC2 and 10th outright.

The result also earned the pair a championship point for their top-10 finish.

Making his debut with Toksport and in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, Gill endured a challenging opening day, suffering a puncture and tyre delamination that left the Australians seventh in WRC2.

They responded strongly on Saturday, building confidence in the unfamiliar car while avoiding the risks that caught out several crews, climbing to fifth by the end of the day.

A cancelled stage on Sunday limited their opportunity to challenge for the podium, with Gill ultimately finishing just 13.9 seconds short of third.

The career-best result provides a high benchmark for Gill and Brkic ahead of Rally Chile, where the pair continue the South American leg of their WRC2 season with Toksport and the Škoda.

IndyCar – Milwaukee

Will Power endured an up and down Milwaukee Mile double-header, with a promising run in the opening race followed by a DNF in the second.

Power was in contention for victory in Race 1, benefiting from the pit-stop sequence to move into second before using fresher tyres to take the lead from Scott McLaughlin on Lap 175.

He led for 19 laps and appeared firmly in the fight for the win, but his hopes were ended when he was handed a drive-through penalty for speeding in pit lane. Power ultimately recovered to finish 14th, with Pato O’Ward taking victory.

The second race proved even more disappointing, with Power’s charge coming to an end on Lap 200.

The Australian was unable to reach the chequered flag, recording a DNF and capping a difficult double-header.

The season finale takes place at the Mission Grand Prix of Monterrey from 4-6 September.

Indy NXT – Milwaukee

Jack Beeton secured his first oval podium in INDY NXT with a strong third-place finish at the Milwaukee Mile, continuing an impressive rookie campaign.

Starting third, Beeton immediately moved into second and remained in the fight at the front for much of the 90-lap race.

Despite battling a loose car from the early stages, the 18-year-old managed his tyres through multiple cautions and restarts to stay within striking distance of the lead.

Beeton briefly challenged eventual winner Max Garcia with eight laps remaining before JM Correa moved ahead in the closing stages.

The Gold Coast driver ultimately finished third, 1.6 seconds behind Garcia, securing his third podium of the season and first on an oval.

Lochie Hughes finished 14th after his race ended in the wall following a Lap 69 incident, while Nicolas Stati completed the race in 13th.

Beeton leaves Milwaukee eighth in the championship on 351 points, just two behind Myles Rowe, and will look to finish his rookie season strongly.

The INDY NXT season concludes next weekend at the Grand Prix of Monterrey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with the final round featuring a double-header on 5-6 September.

GT World Challenge Europe – Nürburgring

Australian drivers Calan Williams, Jayden Ojeda and Jayden Kelly endured a difficult Round 7 of GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring, with all three facing challenging outcomes.

Williams recorded the best result of the Australian contingent, bringing the #42 Oman Racing by Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 home 33rd outright and fifth in the Bronze Cup.

While the crew was unable to challenge for the leading outright positions, Williams and his teammates secured a valuable top-five result in their class.

For Jayden Ojeda, the weekend ended without a classified finish despite securing a P6 in Bronze Cup Qualifying.

The Australian competed aboard the #12 GetSpeed Team Dubai Mercedes-AMG GT3, which was listed as Not Classified after completing 49 laps of the Nürburgring contest.

Jayden Kelly also endured a frustrating race in the #44 Greystone GT McLaren 720S GT3, while qualifying P6 in Silver Cup times. The McLaren was classified as Not Classified after completing 43 laps, bringing an early end to Kelly’s campaign.

Round 8 of GT World Challenge Europe takes place at Zandvoort in the Netherlands from 18-20 September.

GT World Challenge America – Wisconsin

Tom Sargent endured a frustrating weekend as the #32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R was forced out early despite the Australian showing impressive qualifying pace.

Sargent formed the Am component of the team’s Pro-Am partnership alongside Kyle Washington and starred in Qualifying 2, securing pole position for the class while also finishing second outright in the session.

However, the race itself proved short-lived for the GMG Racing entry.

Washington was behind the wheel when the Porsche became involved in a four-car collision on Lap 9, bringing an early end to the crew’s race before Sargent had the opportunity to take over.

The early retirement was a disappointing conclusion after Sargent’s strong qualifying performance had demonstrated the pace of the #32 Porsche.

Sargent and Washington will now look to bounce back at the next round, with the championship heading to Barber Motorsports Park from 25-27 September.

GT World Challenge Asia – Okayama

Australian pairing Andrew MacPherson and Ben Porter secured a pair of strong Am class results during Rounds 7 and 8 at Okayama International Circuit, with the AMAC Motorsport crew finishing fourth in class in both races.

Competing in the #51 Porsche 911 GT3 R, MacPherson and Porter qualified 22nd for the opening race before making progress through the field to finish 19th outright and fourth in the Am class.

The Australians produced another consistent performance in Round 8, once again qualifying 22nd before improving to 18th outright in Race 2.

Their fourth-place Am class finish matched their result from the opening race and capped a productive weekend for the AMAC Motorsport pairing.

The championship now heads to the Beijing Street Circuit for Rounds 9 and 10, with MacPherson and Porter set to return to action from 2-4 October.
