The West Australian then enjoyed one of his best performances for the year with a runner-up finish in the round’s second race after having started eight spots down the order in P10 – with the young Aussie taking a gamble in tyre preference.
Despite qualifying in P14 for the final race, Horsten would have gone into it with lots of momentum and confidence off the back of his overtaking from the previous two races.
However, his charge up the field lasted just one lap after some contact in the opening stages of the race saw him forced to retire and unable to continue his challenge to finish the season in sixth outright.
Taking place in Oschersleben, the New South Welshman went into the round in eighth place on the outright standings and did his chances of jumping the seventh placed Rudy van Buren no harm after finishing the opening race in fourth place.
