The MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars Series has raised the stakes for 2019 with a sensational $50,000 worth of prizes available for the 2020 season.
After signing MRF Tyres as its major sponsor for this year, a new MRF Tyres Team Award will now be on offer to the best performing team during the season.
Awarded to the car that has accumulated the most points across the year using a special handicap system, all teams regardless of drivers or class, have a chance to win the prize.
While the prize pool on offer includes eight free MRF tyres for each of the five rounds and free race fuel for the first round of the 2020 season, drivers will have their eyes on the series’ major prize – a fully funded 2020 season.
A $10,000 Jacuzzi Spas voucher and a 100 Hog’s Breath dinner voucher for each round are also part of the impressive prize.
With the new prize pool expected to attract more competitors to the already popular series, category manager Iain Sherrin was excited for the new season to begin.
“We are very excited to announce this new award for our competitors,” Sherrin, said.
“With some great backing from our sponsors including MRF Tyres, Jacuzzi Spas, RaceFuels and Hog’s Breath, this Award will recognise the best overall car of the season regardless of their class or drivers.
“With a handicap system in place and plenty of competition assured for what is a great prize worth fifty thousand dollars, we can’t wait to see how the battle plays out for the MRF Tyres Team Award in 2019.”
The 2019 MRF Tyres Australian Production Car season kicks off in March before moving to Phillip Island in June for the first of three rounds with two 300km races.
The MRF Tyres Team Award points system:
For the remaining three rounds, the series will be part of the Shannons Nationals, beginning with the popular Fight in the Night in Queensland and then a move to Sandown for the penultimate round.
The 2019 season will wrap up with the grand finale at The Bend Motorsport Park where the MRF Tyres Team Award will be decided.
To be eligible for the MRF Tyres Team Award, a car must compete in a minimum of four rounds throughout the season.
The 2019 MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars season kicks off at Sydney Motorsport Park on 1-3 March as part of the Sydney 240 hosted by the category themselves.
