Need your fill of motor sport action but don’t know where to get it?
cams.com.au take a look at some events on the agenda this week, from state and national level through to grassroots motor sport.
ITM Auckland SuperSprint
When: 12-15 September
Where: Pukekohe, New Zealand
The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship heads across the Tasman for its 11th round of 2019 and there is a lot riding on this weekend’s races 23 and 24.
A win in either race for current championship leader Scott McLaughlin would see him pass Craig Lowndes’ record of 16 wins in a single season, making the New Zealander’s season the most prolific in history – and there is still plenty of racing to go.
With four drivers also locked in an intense battle for second place, as well as a number of impressive support categories, including New Zealand’s own touring car championship, fans will be well entertained for the whole weekend.
The Lake Perkolilli Red Dust Revival 2019
When: 12-15 September
Where: Lake Perkolilli, Western Australia
Classic cars, fast racing and good times are all on the menu for this weekend’s popular Lake Perkolilli outing with car enthusiasts from all around the country making their way to iconic event.
From 1914 to 1939, car owners would race around an isolated claypan in what is considered as one of Australia’s oldest racetracks still in its original form and this weekend, up to 90 vehicles will once again recreate that great race.
From Ford Model Ts to Austin Sevens, there will be plenty to marvel at with spectating free for fans and camping sites available to those willing to stay.
Friday will see competitors qualifying in the time trials before Saturday and Sunday will host the racing from 9am to 5pm.
2019 Darling 200 Rally
When: 14 September
Where: Jarrahdale, Western Australia
The penultimate round of the CAMS Zestino Tyres WA Rally Championship takes place this weekend in Jarrahdale as 26 crews do battle in the blind rally event.
With the state’s best drivers competing in eight stages across 115 competitive kilometres and 57km for the special Clubman Series, there will be plenty of action going on all day.
Rally fans have free access to two spectator points throughout the day, which will allow them to view stages one, two, four and five from 11:40am local time onwards.
CAMS SA State Motor Racing Championship Series Round 4
When: 14-15 September
Where: The Bend Motorsport Park, South Australia
The Bend Motorsport Park hosts the next round of the state championships as many of the participating categories reach the pointy end of their respective seasons.
The last few times the state championship has been held in the state, rain has plagued the weekend causing havoc on the track and opening up the fields, however with sun set to shine in Tailem Bend expect the best drivers to flex their muscles and put on a show.
From HQs and Formula Vees to the Wynn’s Hyundai Excel Cup and Sports Cars, there will be plenty of action for fans to enjoy at Australia’s newest international racetrack. Best of all, it’s free for all spectators.
