The WA Sporting Car Club is back in action with its September race meeting to take place at Wanneroo Raceway on Saturday.

After the successful inclusion of spectators at its meeting in August, the club will once again welcome motorsport fans from around the region to attend the event.

This weekend will mark the fourth time the club has held a race meeting since COVID-19 restrictions were eased across the state, and once again more than 100 drivers across seven different categories have entered.

Leading the way with the largest field is the Saloon Cars, with 23 entrants to do battle across three races. Series leader Grant Johnson headlines the field and will be looking to extend his healthy 57 point lead over Matthew Martin, while PRO-AM class leader Marc Watkins will be fighting off challenges from the likes of Mike Holdcroft.

The Holden HQ Racing Series’ 16-car field also features a number of regular stars, with the battle for title honours certainly heating up. In contention for the one-make series top honours are Michael Howlett and Mick Woodbridge, with just two points separating the duo.

Another one-make category, The Excel Cup, makes its return to the fold after holding its second round in July and there will be 19 competitors fighting it out in what has proved to be an entertaining season so far.

The remaining categories part of the jam packed schedule will be Formula Ford, Historic Touring Cars, Street Cars and Sports Sedans/Cars – all of whom will enjoy three races apiece.

As for spectators, the park and view areas will once again be located at multiple points of the circuit and fans will be able to visit the paddock.

Tickets for the event cost just $5 per car, with the gates oepning from 7am – just one hour before official track business begins at 8am AWST.
