The jam-packed schedule for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships round at Sydney Motorsport Park has been confirmed with nine categories to form part of the jam-packed schedule.
Taking place over three days on the first weekend of May, there will be almost 30 hours of track action.
The categories on show will also offer fans plenty of variety with many of the categories well into their 2021 seasons, including the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, National Trans Am Series and the Gulf Western Oils Touring Car Masters.
The VHT S5000 Australian Drivers Championship will wrap up its four-round season at Sydney Motorsport Park with competitors to fight for the Warwick Brown Cup, as well as outright honours. The championship fight all comes down to three drivers with Joey Mawson currently leading the way over Thomas Randle and Tim Macrow.
While the inaugural VHT S5000 Australian Drivers Championship comes to an end in Sydney, two categories will begin their seasons this year in the Australian Prototype Series and the MRF Tyres Australian Production Car Series.
Making its first appearance on the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championship card this year is the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series - the category’s Sydney Motorsport Park round the first of three as part of Shannons after its opening two were part of the Repco Supercars Championship.
The Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and Radical Australia Cup will also star, continuing their 2021 seasons in Sydney after both having completed just one round so far, the latter a support category during the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour and the one-make Porsche series last racing in Phillip Island last month.
With so much racing to get through, it’s an extremely busy schedule as Friday’s competition runs from 9am to 9:45pm AEST, giving every category the opportunity for practice and qualifying sessions.
An action-packed Saturday sees track action taking place from 8:30am to 6:55pm, while Sunday’s nine-hour schedule from 9am local time makes it the weekend’s shortest day.
Crowds will be unable to attend the circuit on Friday, but will have access to all of Saturday and Sunday’s racing. General admission tickets start from just $25 per day. Corporate packages are also available.
Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships Director Michael Smith said fans were in for a treat.
“With nine categories coming to the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park, it’s safe to say there won’t be any shortage of on track action,” Smith said.
“Together with the Australian Racing Group, we’re absolutely excited to be returning to Sydney Motorsport Park with various sessions under lights and expect a big crowd in to soak up all the action across the weekend. There are plenty of great vantage points for both Saturday and Sunday, so it should be a fantastic weekend.”
Fans unable to attend the round will still be able to watch a large portion of the action with Saturday and Sunday to be broadcast live and free on 7plus and 7mate, while New Zealand viewers can tune into the round via Sky New Zealand and overseas fans can watch via Motorsport.tv.

The third round of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park on 30 April to 2 May.
