Entries for the Motorsport Australia SA Hill Climb Championship are now open.

Like the Motorsport Australia Queensland Hill Climb Championship earlier this year, the South Australian edition will take place over one action packed weekend in September.

With the event open to drivers from every state, more than 100 competitors from around the country are expected to attend Collingrove and battle it out for state championship honours.

Heading into the round as the favourite is reigning champion David Mahon who will be hoping to add some more silverware to his trophy cabinet, as well as build confidence ahead of the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship in October.

The action will begin on Friday with the course available to competitors who require practice sessions before official proceedings get underway on Saturday with the timed runs.

More runs will take place on Sunday morning – setting up a thrilling final for outright honours as the top 12 then battle it out in a sudden-death one run shootout.

With the Sporting Car Club of South Australia (SCCSA) hosting the stand-alone round, event organiser Melissa Rees was excited for the big weekend.

“The SCCSA is proud to host the Motorsport Australia SA Hillclimb Championship this year and we’re really looking forward to some fierce competition over an entertaining few days,” Rees said.

“We’ve actually received quite a few expressions of interest from high profile interstate competitors, which would certainly add some spice into the mix for the title.

“At this point, we encourage any interested interstate competitors to register their place so they don’t miss out and if it comes to a point where borders close or restrictions don’t allow them to come, then they will receive a full refund of their entry fee.

“Collingrove is a really magical place and I highly recommend people visit here to enjoy it in the flesh. Whether it’s as a competitor, official or spectator, it’s truly spectacular and the perfect place to hold the state championship.”

Camping for the event is available for all attendees, while spectators are also able to attend the event with tickets to be purchased from the gate.

The 2021 Motorsport Australia SA Hill Climb Championship takes place at Collingrove on 10-12 September.
