Age-old rivalry to continue at iconic circuits

All Australian competitors will be driving in a green and gold McLaren

Some of Australia’s best Esports drivers will be flying the green and gold flag this weekend as they take on the United Kingdom in a virtual battle of the Esports’ version of the Ashes.

Scheduled for Sunday night at 6pm AEST, the Motorsport Australia vs Motorsport UK Esports Invitational will see 10 selected drivers from both regions competing against each other for bragging rights.

To create an even playing field between the representatives from both sides of the world, the event will see the 20 competitors racing at iconic venues for both ASNs, New South Wales’ Mount Panorama and Brands Hatch in Kent, England.

The format of the event will begin with a 30-minute practice session, which will be followed by a qualifying session and race at Mount Panorama and another qualifying session and race at Brand Hatch.

All drivers will be behind the wheel of McLaren 720s GT3s donned in the country’s colours to help add to the international spectacle.

With Esports a major part of the FIA’s Motorsport Games later this year, the event will be good preparation for many of the competitors who are likely to be involved in the qualifying process for the international event.

Fans can tune into the event on Sunday night via a Sim Grid’s YouTube stream and our Esports page here.

The Motorsport Australia vs Motorsport UK Esports Invitational takes place at Bathurst and Brands Hatch at 6pm AEST on 14 August.
