The Sporting Regulations for the 2023 Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) season have now been released ahead of March’s season opener in Charters Towers.
 
While this year’s regulations are quite similar to 2022, there are a few minor changes overall with the most notable being the scoring system.

Last year’s outright scoring system had a maximum of 31 points allocated to the winning crew, 29 for second and 28 for third, with a continuation of points all the way down to the 30th placed crew, who received one point.
 
In 2023, there are more points on offer for crews at each event with the winner to now receive 100 points, second 90 points and third 80 points, while 30th position will receive five points.
 
There will also be bonus points on offer at every event with two points available to crews for just starting the event and an additional two for those who are classified as finishers.
 
Class points have also been adjusted with a maximum of 600 points available as opposed to 630 points in 2022. Like the outright scoring system, a new addition in 2023 will allocate points to crews for starting a section and points for finishing section.
 
The points will be divided accordingly for each Section based the length of the Section as a percentage of total distance based on a compilation of laps.
 
Similarly, to last year, the top 20 in class for each section as a whole will receive points.

Entries or the event can be completed via the Motorsport Australia member portal until it closes at 5pm AEST on Saturday 18 February.
