The Circuit Excel Racing Association (CERA) have officially announced the Dunlop Direzza ZIII as their controlled tyre option for the Excel category.

After six tender responses and seven tyre options, each assessed according to a fair criteria, CERA have chosen Wildan One Three Pty Ltd (W13), the Australian Motorsport Distributor for Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres Australia, and secured the Dunlop tyre from 2024 through to the end of 2027.

This choice comes after consistent displays from Dunlop across a multitude of categories using Dunlop as their control tyre, including Toyota 86, Super2, Super3 and Supercars.

CERA are hoping this experience will benefit their series, focusing particularly on Dunlop’s work in grassroots motorsport to grow their own programme, through W13’s Dunlop Destiny™ concept.

As part of the Dunlop Destiny™ concept, W13 and CERA will work with Motorsport Australia and promoters with the view of establishing a Circuit Excel Challenge Series.

Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca congratulated CERA on the outcome of the tyre tender process, and was particularly complimentary of the commitment by Dunlop to support driver development through the partnership.

"This is an outstanding commitment by Dunlop who are taking a holistic approach to their support for motorsport and for the Excel category, which continues to prove to be an excellent feeder for young drivers seeking to pursue a career in motorsport," Arocca said.

"Congratulations to both CERA and Dunlop for working together to achieve a great outcome for the category and its talented drivers, who will now be given an opportunity to progress to the upper levels of our sport."

CERA National President John Broadbent emphasised Dunlop’s importance in this grassroots development.

“Circuit Excel Racing Association and Dunlop Motorsport through Wildan One Three share the same common goal, which is to foster grassroots motorsport and provide a pathway for future champions,” Broadbent said. 

“This is only possible through the involvement of Dunlop Motorsport through their support of other categories.”

Loc Tran, National Motorsport Manager for Dunlop Australia, also expressed his excitement for the partnership. 

"We are genuinely excited by the news and our involvement with CERA. This marks a significant milestone in Dunlop's mission to establish youth programs that create clear pathways from go-karts to V8 Supercars, ultimately shaping the champions of tomorrow.”

The Dunlop Direzza ZIII will be available at an exclusive price of $150 per tyre, including GST, for members of Motorsport Australia affiliated Circuit Excel State club members.
