Brodie Kostecki has extended his lead at the top of the Repco Supercars Championship standings after picking up his fourth victory of the year.

In what was a thrilling opening race of the OTR SuperSprint at Shell V Power Motorsport Park, Kostecki showed plenty of fight in his victory, leading Chaz Mostert and Thomas Randle across the line.

Starting from pole, Kostecki lost out to both Randle and Mostert heading into turn one after a slow start, but eventually charged his way back into the lead before the compulsory pit stops played out in the 20-lap race.

Once Kostecki eventually claimed the lead over Randle, the latter was forced to deal with Mostert and the two had an entertaining battle for second place, with Mostert eventually pulling off a solid pass to move into second with just five laps to go.

Eventually Mostert broke away from Randle, who was forced to hold off Cameron Waters for the final podium place, however Mostert couldn’t chase down Kostecki with the West Australian eventually securing a lead of almost two seconds.

With Erebus teammate Will Brown involved in a three-car incident on lap one, and Triple Eight Racing teammates Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney finishing fifth and sixth respectively, the victory has extended Kostecki's lead over  to 80 points.

"I made it hard for myself, I didn't get a good jump, Chaz and Tom got a good start," Kostecki said.

"Had to pass them both back prior to the stop, this Coca-Cola Camaro had plenty of pace under it.

"Proud of everyone at Erebus, it's great to get the pole and win today."

As for the rest of the top three, the second place finish for Mostert was his third consecutive Saturday podium, having picked up a second in the opening race of the NTI Townsville 500 and a third place on the Saturday as part of the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

As for Randle, the podium was just his second ever in Supercars and his first for the year, while Brown’s DNF saw van Gisbergen and Feeney move above him on the standings, with just 19 points separating the two Triple Eight teammates.
