Joel Heinrich now has two Aussie Racing Cars titles to his name
South Australia’s Joel Heinrich has secured a second Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series title after a solid season finale at Highlands Motorsport Park in New Zealand.

A seventh-place finish in the final race of the season for the Osborn Transport entry all but confirmed the trophy for Heinrich, finishing ahead of Reece Chapman and reigning series winner, Josh Anderson.

Despite some troubles in the later stages of the season, Henrich was thrilled to be crowned a series winner for the second time.

“It was an awesome year, awesome round,” Heinrich said.

“Absolutely stoked with the year, it was smooth sailing at the start and brought it home in the end, so I can't wait to go again next year.

“It was a big build up from the start of the year. Getting a couple of wins early really set us up for the back end. The last couple of events were tough, we had a shocker in the last round where we had a couple of mechanical problems and crashed out.

“This weekend was just about trying to consolidate, but it’s been a whole year's effort and tireless as with the rounds back-to-back it was just so busy.

“I’m so glad we got there in the end.”

231106_svgarcWhile all the attention was on Heinrich’s series win, it was Shane van Gisbergen who would take top honours for the Highlands round after a clean sweep of race wins.

After claiming pole position on his series debut, van Gisbergen’s Norganic Proteins entry stormed its way to all four race wins of the weekend ahead of second place Cody Brewczynski and Chapman.

The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series will return in 2024 and an exciting new calendar announcement will come in due course.
