Chaz Mostert has enjoyed a stellar Saturday in Western Australia, securing victory in the opening race of the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint.

Starting on pole, Mostert was jumped by teammate and Supercars rookie Ryan Wood early on in the race, but showed he had the pace to get past his up-and-coming teammate to take the race lead shortly after.

And Mostert didn’t look back, cruising to victory five seconds ahead of Repco Supercars Championship leader Will Brown who himself had started further down the field after qualifying in fourth. Cameron Waters rounded out the podium, getting past Wood on the final lap of the race to claim the last podium place.

“I’ve wanted this one for quite some time,” Mostert said post-race.

“This will be great for me, great for our team – a big confidence boost.

“The car was mega. We’ve come out swinging this year so that was pretty exciting.”
