GB3 Championship – Spa-Francorchamps

The GB3 Championship arrived at Belgium for the first of four European stops for the 2026 season, as racers took on the long and challenging Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps layout.

Dante Vinci and Jack Taylor faced a challenging weekend at one of Europe’s most demanding circuits.

Vinci showed promising pace throughout the event, topping the early testing time sheets, and carrying that form into qualifying.

In Qualifying 1, Vinci secured 10th place, while Taylor qualified 17th. Qualifying 2 saw Vinci in eighth again emerging ahead of Taylor in 13th as both worked to improve their positions against a highly competitive field led by pole-sitters Abbi Pulling and Nikita Bedrin, who secured a GB3 lap record in the process.

Race 1 proved productive for Vinci. The Hillspeed driver stayed out of trouble to finish ninth, collecting valuable Championship points after a disciplined drive within the midfield of the racing pack.

Taylor delivered a clean race too, bringing his Fortec Motorsport car home in 11th, just missing out on a top-ten finish.

Race 2 was tougher for both drivers as Vinci fought hard, but slipped outside the points, finishing 13th. Taylor ended the race in 21st despite his best efforts to climb up the race order.

Although GB3 weekends usually feature three races, inclement weather meant only two races were completed.

Vinci nevertheless left Belgium with points on the board, while Taylor gained valuable experience at the legendary venue. Both now turn to the Hungaroring in early July for Round 3.

GT World Challenge Europe – Monza

The GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup grid formed up at Autodromo Nazionale Monza where it produced mixed fortunes for Australian drivers Jayden Kelly and Calan Williams.

Kelly arrived at The Temple of Speed looking to rebound from a difficult opening round with Greystone GT’s McLaren team at Circuit Paul Ricard. The team showed good performance through the three-part qualifying structure, securing a midfield grid position after a solid combined effort from Kelly and his co-drivers Josh Rattican and Tomas Pintos.

When the race began, chaos ensued and the opening lap quickly descended into disorder. A multi-car incident in the opening chicane triggered early drama and forced several teams to take evasive action as the field scrambled through the smoke and debris – some retiring altogether.

Kelly managed to make it through the initial mayhem and settled into the race nicely, helping the #44 McLaren bring home a finish after three demanding hours around the circuit.

Williams and the Oman Racing by Century Motorsport squad faced a tougher qualifying session, starting deep in the field in the Bronze Cup battle.

Despite the challenging position, Williams delivered a measured and consistent stint during the race, helping the team steadily climb positions after avoiding the lap-one carnage.

By the chequered flag, both Australians had endured the weekend’s unpredictable elements, as Kelly and company settled for 42nd outright, while Williams helped his team to a 12th place outright result and bottom step of the podium in Bronze Cup after 79 laps.

GT4 European Series – Monza

Following testing at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Lachlan Evennett competed in Round 2 of the European GT4 Series at Monza.

Evennett and Dutch co-driver, Mees Houben sat in fifth in the Silver Class Championship after Round 1 at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Evennett started on row nine of the Silver grid after finishing 18th, clocking a fastest lap of 1:55.340.

Contact for Houben and Evennett in Race 1 brought their session to an early finish after seven laps, meaning a non-classification for the duo and wider ramifications for the round as a whole.

The pair were unable to have the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO 2 repaired in time for the second race session, bringing to a close a weekend filled with adversity.

Evennett now quickly shifts focus to the next round of the series at Spa later this month. Lachlan will also return to Australia to prepare for Monochrome GT4 Australia’s Round 3 appearance at Queensland Raceway on 12–14 June.

Monochrome GT4 Australia Round 3 at Queensland Raceway starts 3 straight weekends of racing for Evennett with Australia’s Trans Am’s second round to appear on the Supercars Championship’s betr Darwin Triple Crown card.

IMSA SportsCar Championship – Detroit

Australian Supercars Champion Chaz Mostert endured a dramatic weekend at the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic on the streets of Detroit, competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Vasser Sullivan Racing.

Sharing the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 with Aaron Telitz, Mostert qualified seventh in the GTD Pro class after the pair recorded a best lap of 1:09.961. The session was topped by the No. 3 Corvette of Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia.

In the 100-minute race, Mostert and Telitz looked set for a podium finish, running comfortably inside the top four before a series of unfortunate events triggered chaos, significantly affecting the Aussie representative finishing position.

Contact during a restart damaged the Lexus and forced an unscheduled pit stop, ending their podium hopes after Telitz ran into the back of Nicky Catsburg, who blocked under braking, causing damage to the right front corner. Catsburg was given a drive-through penalty as a result.

The No. 15 crew eventually finished 21st overall and ninth in GTD Pro, four laps down, while Garcia and Sims claimed the class victory.

Mostert and Telitz were also given a post-race penalty for exiting the pit lane under red light and were not classified as a consequence.

British F4 Championship – Silverstone

George Proudford-Nalder claimed victory in a thrilling F4 British Championship round to clinch the coveted BRDC International Trophy.

Starting from pole position in Race 3, the Virtuosi Racing teenager produced the drive of his short career as he fended off a torrent of pressure from Championship leader Lewis Wherrell to triumph in the UK’s premier single-seater series.

As the first winner of the BRDC International Trophy in more than two decades, Proudford-Nalder’s name will now forever sit alongside Formula 1 legends such as Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, fellow countryman Mark Webber and many more on the famous trophy.

Before the Australian reigned supreme in the weekend’s showpiece contest, his teammate Joseph Smith produced a virtuoso performance to tally his second win of the season in an action-packed reverse grid encounter. Proudford-Nalder also rounded up the fastest qualifying lap of the weekend.

Completing the top ten in Race 2 was Virtuosi Racing team-mates Jarrett Clark and Proudford-Nalder, Theo Palmer (Hitech) and Ethan Lennon (Rodin Motorsport).

Proudfold-Nalder came to the fore in a captivating final race of the weekend as he became the eighth different winner of the season, although he was made to work for it after being pushed all the way by Wherrell.

Like Race 2, the final bout saw a brief red flag halt proceedings early on but when the action finally got underway it was Proudford-Nalder that made an exemplary start as he converted pole into a commanding lead in the early laps.

Chipping away at the deficit as each lap passed, Wherrell was soon tucked under the rear wing of Proudfold-Nalder with 12 minutes remaining.

Drawing alongside as they took the last lap board, there was less than a second in it as the pair ran side-by-side all the way down to Maggotts and Becketts, where Proudford-Nalder kept his foot in to hold the inside line and the lead.

Wherrell would fight back over the final half of the lap however the expert positioning of Proudford-Nalder’s machine meant that he was unable to take the lead and instead settled for second, with Proudford-Nalder securing a maiden victory and the highly coveted BRDC International Trophy.

The F4 British Championship continues its 2026 season on 11-12 July when Zandvoort in the Netherlands stages Rounds 13, 14 & 15.

Indy NXT – Detroit

Indy NXT competitors formed part of the proceedings of the Detroit Grand Prix, which proved busy from the start for Aussie trio Jack BeetonNicolas Stati and Lochie Hughes.

Practice gave Hughes reason for confidence after he topped the opening session, while Beeton dealt with early mechanical issues.

Qualifying, split into two groups, saw Hughes deliver the strongest result of the three, putting his Andretti Global car fifth on the race grid. He stayed close to the front runners but missed out on the first two rows.

Beeton qualified 11th, giving himself work to do on race day. Stati ended qualifying 16th after a session where track position and traffic played major factors.

A first-lap incident disrupted the field and multiple cautions followed, wtih Hughes dropping to 21st by the finish despite a top five start.

Stati avoided major trouble and focused on gaining positions where possible to finish inside the top 10 in seventh. Beeton also spent much of the race managing restarts and incidents around him to place 13th.

The next appearance for all three drivers will be on Sunday, 7 June on the 1.25-mile oval at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, in the shadow of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. It will be the first of three oval races this season.

IndyCar – Detroit

Will Power looked set to challenge for a strong result at the Detroit Grand Prix before contact derailed his afternoon on the streets of downtown Detroit.

The Australian IndyCar competitor carried momentum into the weekend after producing his best qualifying performance of the 2026 IndyCar season.

Power advanced to the Firestone Fast Six and secured a front-row start alongside pole-sitter Alex Palou, missing out on what would have been his record-extending 72nd career pole position.

Starting second, Power immediately established himself as one of the race’s leading contenders. He remained in the fight at the front through multiple caution periods and strategy swings, showing strong pace on a circuit that rewarded aggression and precision.

Power spent part of the race leading and ultimately recorded 18 laps at the front.

However, Detroit’s reputation for unpredictability proved costly for Power. As the race entered its decisive stages, Power became embroiled in a fierce battle involving New Zealander and former teammate Scott McLaughlin.

Contact between the pair ended any hopes of a podium finish and dropped both drivers down the order in a race that featured repeated incidents and six caution periods.

After displaying front-running speed throughout qualifying and the opening stages of the race, Power finished 22nd.

The next race is the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline on Sunday in Madison, Illinois on 7 June.

Formula Regional European Championship – Spa-Francorchamps

Alex Ninovic emerged from the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps with a solid points haul, despite weather disruptions that heavily impacted the schedule.

Ninovic immediately showed good speed in Friday’s opening qualifying session.

Competing in Group B, the Rodin Motorsport driver set the third-fastest time with a 2:14.107 lap, finishing only 0.037s behind pole-sitter Alexandre Munoz in one of the closest sessions of the season.

The weekend was then thrown into disarray by torrential rain. Race 1, originally scheduled for Saturday morning, was halted and postponed because of poor visibility and standing water around the Belgian circuit.

Organisers were forced to revise the timetable, with the weather continuing to dictate proceedings across the remainder of the event.

Ninovic was able to collect a seventh-place result despite the disjointed nature of the opening race session.

Further disruption followed when Race 2 was cancelled altogether as officials attempted to recover lost track time after the earlier delays.

When competitive running resumed, Ninovic again delivered in qualifying.

In Sunday’s second qualifying session he finished second in Group B, securing another strong grid position on the second row in fourth and underlining his one-lap pace throughout the weekend.

Race 3 became the only uninterrupted feature contest of the meeting.

Starting near the front, Ninovic remained in the lead battle through multiple incidents and safety car interruptions. He crossed the line sixth, collecting valuable points while continuing to establish himself in the highly competitive FRECA field.

Although Spa’s weather prevented a full race program, Ninovic left Belgium with two strong qualifying performances and a top-six finish to his name.

Next up on the season is Round 4 on 19-21 June at Monza. Ninovic currently sits inside the top 10 of the Championship standings.

New Zealand Rally Championship – Canterbury

The Australian contingent made its presence felt at the latest edition of the Lone Star Rally Canterbury, with crews spread throughout the field and tackling the demanding gravel roads north of Christchurch.

The event attracted a strong entry list across the various championship classes.

Among the standout Australian representatives was co-driver Larisa Biggar, who partnered Caleb Macdonald in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI. The pairing delivered one of the best results for the Australian cohort, finishing inside the top ten overall and claiming a strong result in the Rally Challenge 4WD field, finishing fourth in the category.

Co-driver Neill Woolley also enjoyed a competitive run alongside Josh Keighley in a Subaru Impreza H6. The crew featured prominently in the Rally Challenge battle and successfully brought the car home in ninth after a demanding day of competition – the highest ranked Australian for the event.

Driver Richard Galley took on the Canterbury stages in a BMW E30 and completed the rally with a respectable finish, placing fifth in the 2WD 1601cc+ class.

Elsewhere, the pairing of driver Wayne Hoy and co-driver Pip Bennett fell inside the Subaru H6 top five. Meanwhile Andrew Brooks claimed a class win in Historics alongside driver Phil Macquarie.

Rounding out the Australian results was Catriona Kelly representing Australia across the field, where her event was cut short after five stages in the Over 1700cc 2WD class next to Kiwi driver Derek Ayson in their Opel Manta 400.

The third round of the Championship will see teams head back to Invercargill for the Barry Robinson Memorial Rally Southland on 18 July.
