Motorsport Australia is pleased to announce the Hyper Racer X1 can now be logbooked for circuit racing and is eligible to compete in Motorsport Australia-sanctioned Circuit Racing events for X1 vehicles moving forward.

Hyper Racer and Hyper Racer X1 Championship Founder Jon Crooke said the Series is looking forward to working with Motorsport Australia to facilitate exciting future events for the category.

“It’s been a highly-positive and collaborative process which results in our drivers now having more options to go racing,” Crooke said.

“Bringing Hyper Racer into the Motorsport Australia framework is an exciting step for the category and provides a strong foundation for its continued growth.

“Motorsport Australia’s support and governance will allow the Hyper Racer X1 to compete within a recognised national framework, while retaining the equal-car philosophy that puts the focus firmly on driver ability.

“We look forward to working closely with the team at Motorsport Australia to deliver a competitive and accessible category for drivers across Australia.”

The Hyper Racer X1 Championship will run as a standalone one-make open wheeler category with a field of over 20 vehicles taking to the grid.

Motorsport Australia CEO Josh Blanksby said he was pleased to see the efforts from both parties deliver a flexible solution for Hyper Racer.

“As the governing body, it’s our responsibility to work with members from across the entire motorsport community to ensure we are building a strong and sustainable future for motorsport in Australia.” Blanksby said.

Any competitor who does not currently hold a Motorsport Australia licence can obtain a simple bridging licence so they can compete in Motorsport Australia-sanctioned events for the remainder of 2026.

The Hyper Racer X1s will next compete at Round 5 of the Victorian Motor Racing Championship held at Winton Motor Raceway on 2-4 October.
