Supercars heads to South Australia this weekend for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend Motorsport Park, with the 500-kilometre race marking the first of two rounds for the 2026 Ryco Enduro Cup.

The event will be the first endurance race of the season and the first major test of the new Toyota GR Supra Supercar over long-distance competition, with 26 cars and 52 drivers set to take on The Bend’s West Circuit.

Championship contenders Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood will have plenty at stake as they look to strengthen their respective Finals Series positions.

Sitting eighth and ninth heading into the weekend, both Walkinshaw TWG Racing drivers need strong results across The Bend and next month’s Repco Bathurst 1000 to remain inside the championship’s top 10 to qualify for the Finals Series.

Mostert will be reunited with Fabian Coulthard, with the pair having finished second at the 2022 Bathurst 1000, while Wood will share his Toyota with fellow New Zealander Jaxon Evans.

Reliability will be another major talking point for Toyota. The manufacturer has claimed three race victories in 2026, but a number of mechanical failures have raised questions over the GR Supra’s durability.

With 500 kilometres of racing ahead this weekend, The Bend will provide the the team with its biggest endurance challenge yet.

The event will also see several familiar faces return to the driver’s seat, including former champions Mark Winterbottom and James Courtney.

Winterbottom will again partner Cam Waters in the No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang, returning to the Tickford Racing squad where he scored 38 of his 39 career wins, including the 2013 Bathurst 1000 and 2015 Championship.

Courtney, meanwhile, will make his first race start since retiring from full-time competition at the end of 2025, joining 2017 Bathurst winner David Reynolds at Team 18.

Adding further intrigue is the return of seven-time Bathurst 1000 winner Craig Lowndes, who will contest the AirTouch 500 as a Supercheap Auto Racing wildcard alongside Bayley Hall.

The event comes just days after the 20th anniversary of Peter Brock’s passing, with Lowndes continuing the legacy of his mentor both on and off the track.

Practice begins Friday, before Boost Mobile Qualifying and the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout on Saturday set the grid for Sunday’s 500-kilometre showdown.
