Targa Tasmania has released the official course map for its 28th event with a mixture of old and new locations making up the six-day event
Up to 300 cars are expected to take part in the iconic event, with more than 35 locations and 2000 completive kilometres making Targa Tasmania the world’s largest, longest and hardest tarmac rally.
Targa Tasmania will kick off with the Launceston Country Club’s popular ceremonial start before competitors head out to Holwell, Kayena and George Town for the Super Street Stage.
Starting day two from the Silverdome, crews will drive through High Plains, Sheffield, Nook, Moriarty, Paloona and Mount Roland, with Latrobe to be the midway point for lunch and a stopover.
Day three will see drivers head east on the Apple Isle towards The Sideling, Moorina, Weldborough, Pyengana, Elephant Pass and Rossarden.
Fans will be able to get up close and personal with the cars and drivers during the day’s lunch break at the picturesque beachside town of St Helens.
Drivers will then go from east to northwest on the fourth day of action, with visits to Cethana, Castra, Gunns Plains, Riana, Hellyer Gorge and Recce Dam.
The midway point for the day will be in the beautiful Burnie, where car enthusiasts will not only have lunch with the competitors, but with penguins too, making it a family friendly event.
The penultimate day of competition will see Strahan, Queenstown, Mount Arrowsmith, Tarraleah, Molesworth & Grasstree Hill all on the course map, with the stopover in New Norfolk.
The sixth and final day of the event will take place south of Hobart, with visits to Tinderbox, Pelverata, Gardners Bay, Oyster Cove, Cygnet and Longley.
The 2019 Targa Tasmania will then conclude at Mac2 by the Hobart Waterfront, the same finishing location as 2015, marking the end of one of the most popular events in Australia.
Entries remain open for the 2019 Targa Tasmania until Friday, 12 April 2019.
The 2019 Targa Tasmania will take place from 29 April – 4 May.
